  As someone who has played this game for 300 nearly 400 hours I can tell you the secret on how to figure out what inscription do which is hover over a time and press down which will them give you the inscription detail On a less sarcastic note the inscription can fit in like 6 different categories 1. Stat boost( arms ,courage, wisdom, and artifact) these four are bare bone basic just incredible you stats courage and wisdom will amplify your damage percent while arms and artifact will increase damage but also have extra effects that will activate every 10-15 seconds 2. Status inscription( status effects , ) these are inscription that have and effect to them poison, stun, burn, and bleed some skulls can inflict these status effect most notably sword but you will be more focused on items and less on pure damage scaling as you will be relying on item effect more for these builds 3. Crit inscription and crit item(misfortune and strike) these are two builds but fall under the same flag, increase your crit rate as much as possible but for different reason misfortune is crit item think invisible dagger or thief’s armor and you would this would be a bad build but crit items are one of the best and strike is for BIG CRIT DAMAGE which is harder to build as you need good crit rate, base damage and crit damage, but it’s insane if you can get it 4.Dash inscription (chase and soar) more item build inscription with these 2 being focused on dashing and attacks that come out of the dash by item effect good Speed increase inscription(rapidity, mana cycle, mana tech, and mutant) these are inscription that increase the speed of some thing rapidity is attack speed, mana tech and mana cycle are skill cooldown speed but in different ways and mutant is swap speed and most of these are once again item based runs 6. Defensive inscription (fortress, revenge and I believe Heritage) fortress is shields and heritage just gives you a free hit take on a cooldown and revenge which is the most broken inscription in the game and legit is hard to die with especially if you use it with ghoul Now there are some miscellaneous inscription which are 1. Fairy tail: spirit that will attack on there and when you get to fairy tail 5 it’s summon fairy king Oberon 2. Masterpiece: these are item that when gotten to masterpiece 5 they upgrade these normally for other inscription 3. Treasure: MONEY MONEY MONEY, these drop treasure chest that give money and treasure 4 can give you bones and even items 5. Sun and moon this is on 2 two item the solar sword and moon ring and if you can get it with both at the same item or the same one through item duplication you get a legendary item with the most likely on your gonna get is the Fulgent dawn 80% to both attack stat and a giant blast on cooldown And last in the hard mode called the dark mirror once you get to dark mirror level 2 you gain access to omens item that have powerful effect but the draw back being the omen inscription omen 1 double damage taken omen 2 half health and health and omen 3 a single hit can kill you these items are high Risk high reward and only should be taken once you get use to the dark mirror

  Been playing this game on and off for a year now! They have added a dlc to it and it is totally worth it! Cheap and adds another layer to building your skul. Awesome game.

  Having played this game recently. It is designed as a rogue-lite. It expects you to go beyond the casual playthrough and to learn each enemy and boss intimately to survive. Like most rogue-lites it is a game focused on mastery. For casual gamers I think they will quickly get frustrated since most games let you win by just throwing yourself at things. This game not so much. There is rookie mode in settings (hidden to new players) that reduces incoming damage by 50% for normal mode runs. This can help learn fights. In addition, some Skulls are much more beginner friendly. Having played a few weeks now it does grow on you. But definitely not for the feint of heart. Hardest part is actually trying to get platinum because it expects a no-hit run on each of the main bosses in the game.

  I'm very much one of those players who tries brute forcing their way through games and that only gets you so far here. 😂 Every time I make a run I learn a smidge more, but it's slow progress and I refuse to fiddle with the difficulty. It's hard to put down though. I can't fathom the concentration needed on a no-hit run involving bosses, but I'm not surprised people manage to do it!
