    I saw an interview where Chay talked about having to fly back to the UK to go talk with Bernie's parents while they were at Rio. I can't imagine how hard that was for all parties involved....

    This sailor is amazing. The way he stayed calm when the boat broached and he brught it back under control. That took some big balls

    It wasn't the Annapolis sailboat show a few years ago. Easily the best built boat there. Very thoughtful design. Easily my dream boat.

    11 years later, and one more person pointing out that this happens all the time in sail racing and it isn't news.

    Beautiful! Thank you Our family boat of the 1960's was Amita, a Fife built 8 meter boat. Like all 6,8,10 and 12 Meter boats they are fantastic to sail.

    I like it. I wish Hanse or Torqeedo would produce a more technical video. Installation details. Access and maintenance. A video of a real motor, propeller, and rudder instead of a 3D rendering.

    Toys, worthless 10s of million dollars tech toys, they are not sea worthy. The America's Cup has become a joke nobody watches anymore. Should go back to the rule, the contenders must come the races on their own bottoms. Eliminate all advertising on the boats and sails, this suppose to represent a sport not some damn billboards on water.

    I love to row but I despise going backwards . So I made a boat that uses a small shaft a flywheel and pedals . Now I can see where i am going

    My experience with the Etchells has been when it starts to get unstable before a broach, that bringing in the main, not a huge amount but enough to keep 'heeling' pressure on it so that it won't sky, helps a lot. Doesn't prevent it absolutely but when you start to go into the death roll, it will snap it back straight up....in many cases. Nice to see an Etchells on plane! There are people who think that only asymmetric sugar scoop type designs will do that. My Sonar jumps up on a plane and practically gives you whiplash when it does so....fun

    Nobody can live with a 50 mile range! You just limited your product not improved it. The entire electric thing is a scam for people who cross seas or travel to remote destinations.

  • @timmillea

    An auxiliary engine is for the convenience of getting in and out of port. With good sailing skills, it is not even necessary. 50 miles should be good for a couple of years of port manoeuvres, i.e. on one charge of around 3000.

  • @Dogasaurus
    @Dogasaurus Жыл бұрын

    50nm on one charge . Buy a powerboat or dump your big tv and dishwasher overboard if you need to motor more than 40-50nm at one time before setting some canvas, my friend...lol.. The prop is a great design; it feathers when the e-motor is off to become a hydrogenerator which trickle charges the batteries. Add some solar, too, for charging on the hook and you'll be juiced for the trip into port.Carry less diesel & add a battery or two for torque to fight wind/current if needed. Carry a small genny for hotel load/emergencies/fast charge. No excuse any more for diesel on smaller boats except initial cost.

    He’s a cheat lol he and his crew were caught trying to start an “Outboard Motor” Live on television by New Zealand helicopter news crews during “The Americas Cup”! Just days after he did that I saw him and the rest of the American crew outside a local bar in Napier/Hawkes Bay and spoke to him from an XB Ford Falcon panel van and thanked him for “The Cup” just to rub it in a little lol 😂 Shame on him!
