Something is very amiss with an Art World that can elevate this man to the successful career he has. I have never seen even the tiniest shred of talent or ability in any of his art. I think all the galleries and curators should be ashamed of themselves for pretending his art is original or worthwhile. Squeegeeing paint mush across a surface is not creative, and not art.

Aside from his undeniable and indelible mark in the history of contemporary art, Gerhard seems a very humble and calm person, sweet and caring for his loved ones, with an almost child-like freshness and freedom to the perspective of his art.

He got so many skills. I first only knewes him for his abstract works because I am an abstract painter too. As I realised what skills he got in portrait painting I was really amazed

Got to say again. I know it's sometimes difficult to see quality through work, especially from those that are revered in the artworld as a lot is extremely overrated moneylaundering garbage. But Richter is genuine. I make abstract work, people have no clue how difficult it is, I can draw like the greatest in history easily, I don't even come close to a Richter painting. Once you start seeing the beauty and elegance and balance and color schemes, and you then look at amateur abstract work, the difference is worlds apart. To achieve this level consistently, can only be because of how good Richter is.

For real? This artist routinely produces more and more garbage. There is just no artistic talent or ability here. Somehow his ugly random paint scrapings got chosen to be promoted. His color sense is just awful. Can't draw or compose. And can't paint, for that matter. Look, if anyone wishes to blindly attack me for making negative comments, let me start by saying that I have more art background, education, productivity, and accomplishments than YOU do. To anyone who fairly agrees that I have the right to these valid opinions, well, have a nice day and I hope you find better art to look at.

Gerhard Richter is my favorite contemporary artist. Thank you for the video. I was at the exhibition of Gerhard Richter in Prague - received kalasalny pleasure. I was also at his exhibition in Nuremberg.

The "value" of abstract art is beyond subjective, such depictions are of such a personal nature, and as far as artistic painting skills are concerned the "Masters of Antiquity" are the real and or true artists.
