This man carelessly disregarded numerous warnings, resulting in the deaths of nine people and causing lifelong injuries and trauma to many more. He is not an example of power or integrity but rather someone who forgets how to do his job when important people are around. I would not be able to live with myself knowing what happened and then posting about it. Therefore, if the person who posted this was aware of the incident, he is the very antithesis of integrity himself.

Whether Nando wants to know it or not, he is a hero. What he and Roberto did is something not very many have done. I am in awe of him and the other men who came down off that mountain. If he reads this I wanted to say to him, you are one of the spirit guides of my life. Whenever I feel I can't take anything more in my life, I think of what you and the others went through and then I can face whatever I can. You are indeed a special person. Thank you for surviving and allowing me to get to know of you. It has been a pleasure dear sir. Sending love and light to you, your family, to Roberto, Pedro, Eduardo, Fito, Carlitos, Ray, Daniel, Bobby, Alvaro, Moncho, Antonio, Gustavo, and to Javier and Coche. I wish all your families nothing but eternal peace and long life. I love you all.

It annoys me to no end, that 20/20 has so many people narrating the story, some you think “And who are YOU?” Just talking like they were THERE. Come on! Just stick to ONE interviewer, and the ACTUAL people that really experienced it.

Her life story of extreme struggles was heart rending. Yet like a modern real life Cinderella, she with assistances from various fairy godmothers and godfathers that managed to help her as she desperatedly tried to crawl out from the abyss. And the sweetness of the happy ending when she was able to win the New York Times essay contest that provided her with scholarship to attend Harvard and made her famous overnight. Incredible real life story against tremendous odds!

Nando is my hero even though he says he does not want to be thought of as a hero. ! I read "Alive" right after it was published in the 70s, and it became one of my favorite books ever. Imagine my shock when I realized he was on the cruise my husband and I took during the winter holidays in 2018/19 and that he was a featured speaker. I was crazed with excitement, could barely believe I was going to see him. The auditorium was filled, and many of us were crying. I was thrilled to meet him afterwards and exchange an email with him which graces the wall of my home office as I type. He is an exceptional human being I also read Miracle in the Andes and so look forward to the Netflix production. I will never forget one of his lines during his presentation: "Luck is everything." I applaud his humility and philosophy of life. The whole world should hear what he has to say.

Hello Marlene. As a south american, I am widely aware of what happened. Always has been one of my favorite stories of human will and mentality. I am now proposing the event to my University, so for me is a very interesting thing to learn that people from all around the world also cherished Nando, Canessa, and the others that also deserved recognition. Could you please tell me how many people were in the auditorium when you went to see Nando?

To climb a 15,000 foot (4600m) peak, in rugby shoes, without any ropes, crampons or other climbing equipment, after having eaten nothing but raw meat for two months, is nothing short of superhuman. Never mind climbing Everest or K2. This is the most astonishing feat of mountaineering in history
