  I lived in Mendocino area for two years, around 1972. First I got stuck out on the 10 mile river in a couple of cabins. When my neighbors had to be rescued by helicopter due to the flood, & the cabin burned down, I had to take care of my mom near Inyokern after she had a heart attack. When I came back I moved into town for a while where I was less lonely. It took about two years to break into the Mendocino clique, at least in those days. I went to the dances with the band Colors and Booker T aand the MG’s, met Judy Mayhan at her house. Then stayed at Frances Bucks house a Violinist in a band of Music of India. While there I met a 17-year-old man whose dad was the drummer in the flying burrito Brothers. Coincidently later I became friends with Gram Parsons wife Nancy back in Santa Barbara in my hometown. on the way back I met Montino bourbon an Indian musician in Marin. That was great because I also went to his house in Santa Barbara later. Though I had met him in Marin we were both from Santa Barbara. One last trivia from that area: I hitchhike from Mendocino to Monterey and back for the jazz festival. I had hitched that route before in the 60s, but this time a guy raped me on the way back to Berkeley. I only survived because I was young. TBC! Now I am 76 in a wheelchair bedridden in excruciating pain…because the 60s generation is dropping like flies. Thank you for the music. A friend is doing security for the Morro Bay festival and I hope I can get down there just to see you. I haven’t heard much of the other music yet. I lived in this area in Paso Robles in the 50s so I’ve kind of come back full circle 66 years later. I also like your name because my sisters name is Yvanne, an unusual spelling my mom made up to combine the names “Eve “and “ann.“ What time will you be there and how do you pronounce your first name? I had a music radio show for 12 years I was invited to do, in Santa Barbara. If I still had it I would love to play this! And I wonder if there’s anyone around Mendocino these days that knows any of the people I mentioned, when I was there? A dear friend lived there that passed away.

  Hi Trina. It's such a gorgeous area but it is isolated. Those sound like really hard experiences but you lived through them. Hopefully there are some sweet memories too. I'm sorry to hear of your pain. I play all the time in SLO County, please say hello if you make it out here. My mother dreamt the spelling of my first name when she was pregnant with me (it's pronounced Y'nah'nah) & Rose is a middle name that I chose myself when I was a child. There are still some old timers from that first generation of hippies in Mendocino, & lots of young people there now too. Every time I go back it connects me to my story. Thanks for listening!   Hi Ynana ... My son Tim was born in Mendocino county 1979. We lived in a virgin redwood cabin on the coast just south of Westport. In Woodstock, Vermont about 1983 I worked forward my own tune Mendocino Sunrise in an open major tuning. First song I wrote. It's long time registered here in Sweden.
