Oh so your release is the back clip? And it will snap off with a quick jerk? And will the planer drop to the back of the boat without tangling other lines?

i have this unit from a used lund. I haven't messed with it much but can't seem to find why my sonar only shows black and white fish logos and not the arch with color. any suggestions? yes same model.

Change the palette. It will be one of the options in the sonar menu.

So how do you connect it to the Lowrance I assume there is a video in on your model?

So on the older carbon or gen 3 units, Lowrance has a video adapter power cable, the Aqua Vu plugs right into that. On the newer live units, a simple HDMI goes right from the Aqua Vu to the Lowrance unit.

Once u find your depth to troll using the trolling fine, how do u set the cable depth to stay in place to fish hands free? I know the fishing line is clipped to the cable but what holds the cable in position along side of the boat to concentrate on the monitor.

So when I am snorkeling I can see about 15 feet down in a clearish lake what I would like to know is if you.put the fish camera just below the surface facing down how far would you be able to see

Yes, you have to use the OR18 with braid, but I use it with mono as well!

Also wanted to ask how you deal with the livewell lid on a Fishmaster 196, which doesn't stay closed when moving across the lake and bloody water splashes out when waves are a bit rough. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I just traded my Gen 2 for a Gen 3. Do you need a different transducer to get the 3D feature on structure scan? Also, my unit is not recognizing my mini SD card that I have in the card reader. Do you have any idea why it would do that? Also, I have an underwater AquaView camera . How does it hook up to the HDS unit? Thanks. Great video.

David - to use the 3D feature, you need to have the 3D transducer and module. It connects to the unit via the yellow ethernet connector. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be recognizing your SD card, is the software up to date? What are you using the card for, mapping? The Aqua Vu Mulit Vu connects to your unit via a Lowrance video adapter power cable... Your aqua vu camera has to have a RCA Video Output, I'm not sure which camera you have, but I use the Multi Vu, which has RCA video output.

I spoke to Lowrance and they said the largest mini sd card I can use is a 32 gb. I had a 64 gb in it. So I ordered a 32 gb card and will try it next week. I have the AV Micro 5 plus, a very small unit. It probably does not have those features that you mentioned. Thanks.

I just wish hey weren't so expensive. $33 for the board and another $20 or so for the tattle flag. $50 for a piece of plastic and packing foam...

The only other thing I would suggest is not to put the screw eye in the top of the back the board. Instead drill a new hole near the bottom of the rear of the board. This fixes the issue with the rear of the planner board to sink and the nose to ride to high in the water. The difference is significant. This does not effect the tattle flag action at all. :P. Nice video.

larry clifton, any micro sd card will work to record, simple way is turn your trails on, then you can always follow your trail home. You can also record a route, see how to do that in your manual. For simple stuff like this, your unit should have enough internal storage that you don’t even need a sd card. I record on 16g micro sd cards for uploading and make genesis maps. I hope this helps!

Doug Kaul, it would mark a track and you would be able to make usable waypoints, but there would be very limited land navigation features. There are better options for land navigation...
