  Combat Evolved is what Halo is all about. It's the best, pure Halo experience. Halo 2 failed to capture the eerie and mysterious vibes big time. Bungie humanized the covenant too much and 343 gave us too many intricate details about the lore that just erases any sense of mysteriousness.

  I don't get why bungie made such drastic changes in halo 2. The Elites posture, their voices, Grunts voices, the ambient noises, the general feel of the game, no AR. I get they made Elites posture that way for MP but did it really have to be that way in campaign as well? Thats all i got atm

  I do find it eerie that some of the sounds in the ambience sounds like the forerunner door opening sound in the distance, at least to me. That plus this ambience plays on the 343 guilty spark is creepy AF because it kinda hints that the flood is moving around in passages under your feet or in other parts of the facility

  I always took it as them saying what ship the dropship is from as part of some sort of general format for UNSC distress signals. As in they're saying "This is Dropship Victor 933, Pillar of Autumn" and not the assumed "This is Dropship Victor 933 to the Pillar of Autumn" reading of the transmission people have.

  unlike others, I always thought this sounds was the coming of some sort of conditioning system for the structures. still gave me a nice feeling of complexity of the forerunner ring and still horror aspects involved. :)

  This is absolutely chilling to hear. The panicked tone of his voice, frequent static, and ambient rain, not to mention that this is one of mankind's first encounters with the flood. It ties in excellent with the level.

  I love how the entire room sounds like it's breathing. During gameplay too, if you're sneaking through, it's always handy to listen for the footsteps of the patrols.
