    How do you fuck up Joe Dirt? This movie was so cringe. The writing was terrible. The fact that Crackle released the film. Should have been a sign of its quality.

    Richard was played by Bette Davis grandson, J. Ashley Hyman. Bette wanted him for the role because the money he made would to into a college trust. There were conflicting stores about what went down during filming. B.D Hyman wrote in her book that Bette terrorized and traumatized Ashley, while cast and crew who worked on Family Reunion said Bette mentored and always looked out for him. Tbh it was a mistake casting him. I get wanting your grandchild to earn money, but the story revolves around Richard, and the poor kid couldn't act if his life depended on it. Although neither could his mother. Watch her scenes in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? to see what I mean. Odd how two generations didn't inherent any of Bette's immense talent. 🫥

    I presume the idea was to gather a lot of well known British actors and the public would then pay to see them over act and the producers would make some money. The script then is little more than an afterthought concocted to justify bringing the actors together. It's like a kids' pantomime. Hard to imagine what a grown up could see in anything so obvious and silly.

  • @vertigo2893

    Not as false as you might think. Its based on the book by the real Col. Burton and while of course it was adapted for comedy, its kinda accurate in broad strokes.

    Now I know why Ukraine can't win.... Aren't they using the Bradley too? If every American weapon like this, how they supposed to win the war?

  • @arcdecibel9986
    @arcdecibel9986Күн бұрын

    That's not why Ukraine can't win, and mot of this movie is fake, except the cost overruns and development time. Ukraine doesn't have the numbers or combined-arms support to really make inroads against Russian forces, though their M1A2 Abrams tanks are doing very well - the handful of them that they have. What they should have is US and NATO support a per treaty agreement, but you'd have to ask Biden why he never offered that. I imagine it's the same reason Obama let Russia invade Ukraine. They don't actually want to stop Russia, because a lot of allies they'd like to have are either aligned with Russia, or depend on Russian oil. If they hadn't tried to pull that stupid Trump-Russia collusion hoax, they likely never would have sent anything, or even less than they have, just like last time.

    The Bradley was designed to be used in combined arms warfare. air, sea and ground all working in unison to complete a specific goal, not charging across the lines in tanks and IFVs driven by hastily trained conscripts hoping to dodge all the tank mines, artillery shells, ATGMs and kamikaze drones. Outside of the far right banderite brigades and blatant bombing of civilians the common ukrainian foot soldier has faught valiantly given the circumstances but by now it's pretty clear to any outside observer that it's a lost cause. Sending more weapons and money will only prolong the war but it won't change the outcome.

    This is a 3 hour movie. Much of the acting is wooden; it's often as cloying as the worst of the Hallmark tear-jerkers; but I watched it till the end - just for Bette Davis. Of course this is why they put her in it.

    This movie should be shown to all engineers and planners as to what scope creep is. It is also a textbook presentation of deception, political pork funding, and a complete lack of integrity on part of the general staff. If they can identify it, they'll root it out.
