    Good explanation. But for me the next method of recording on my MPC is with the usb 32 channel output to a mixer and record off live each channel in a separate Daw like Ableton. The main reason I am keeping the MPC is the playability and jaming and sampling. quite frankly it really really sucks for song arrangement and all that jamming fee goes out the window. The song mode and sequencing on MPC is terrible, there isn't even a way to erase a sequence in the Next Sequence window. Once sequence is a way round this but its very slow and zero jamming feel.

    Hi, Noob here! MPC X SE, MPK249, Toshiba Satellite with WIN 10, Abelton Live 12 Lite. Not seeing how/where to install MPC Plug-in in Live 12. MPCX Menu does not have a Live 12 icon. MPK is connected to MPCX via USB and Midi in and out cables but I think the USB is active. Keyboard and MPCX communicate fine. Toshiba and MPCX same. Live 12 sees keyboard as MPK249. Keyboard output is set to the MPCX. Abelton shows Toshiba speakers as only output. HELP PLEASE! Thanks!

    lot of good info, thanks, but , what if instead of (after getting rid of all the unused samples) you do the purge, then you save the purged file again with a different name and delete the original project file, then you would get rid of all the unused samples without having to go into the program file and delete them one by one?

  • @TUBEDIGGA

    Yeah I do that occasionally if I know I’ve saved a project with large samples that I hadn’t purged before the first save.

    Nice breakdown mate, very much appreciated. Good to see more Akai stuff from you released. Lovely story at the end, and resonates with me. Not so much London, as I’m a rural country kid but picking up the pirates out here, summers nights and defining my musical culture, hearing certain synth presets is what does it for me often.

    I'm just getting into MPCX with the intention to use it with Eurorack and have been perusing the web for inspiration and information as I await delivery. Thank-you for sharing your creativity and knowledge here, subbed. Your album is proof of how ones measure of success can be met proportional to following through with intent, despite limitation (or perhaps ignited by them). This is exactly the kind of inspiration I am looking for. I stepped away from production 20 years ago, but the bug never left me, I'm very excited to return. I will bookmark your classes in case I ever find myself bogged down. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos.

    @@TUBEDIGGA Indeed it was! Do you use any modular in your live work? I'm strongly inspired by generative-style eurorack stuff, and so as I continue to wait delivery and watch, I wonder how much of it I'd control via MPC and if I'd still do well to get something like the Metropolix (Intellijel) in the rack to create riffs. Cheers!

    @@kellysereda4961 I sold all my eurorack modular gear. It was amazing to experience for a few years and is great for unique tones and textures. But I wasn’t utilising it enough to warrant keeping it, and it’s not exactly a cheap hobby. Only used it a couple of times live for ambient performances. The X is good for syncing / sequencing it though.

    @@TUBEDIGGA I appreciate that feedback. Oh man... the cost. 150 here, 300 there until I realized my idea of a decent system consisted of 20+ modules...

    Impossible to use pad mix mode in song mode... You have to copy the sequence by removing the track(s) to vary the composition. Did I understand well ?

  • @TUBEDIGGA
    @TUBEDIGGAАй бұрын

    If you’re playing back your sequence playlist in song mode and go to any other mode, the currently playing sequence will continue but the playlist will not. I’ve mentioned this many times before and it’s a well known fact. As stated in this video, the workflow is: Create a sequence Name all your tracks and the programs assigned to them Once your sequence is mostly together and you want to expand, make multiple copies. Make variations of the copies Go to song mode and arrange the sequences. Convert the song to a new self contained sequence so you can use the other modes and have the song (the new longer sequence) play from start to finish.

    Excellent explanation and creation. I would say if you put those final sounds pitched down through a vocoder, compress it and perhaps even put a bit of gated reverb, it will get closer to the exact original sound. Your demo was marvelous though.
