What i have realised for many years is that Russians can be the most reckless at approaching or handling volatile equipment and later live to regret it but keep on repeating it!

It’s interesting to view a real depiction of people in the USSR, free from propaganda on either side. I mean propaganda on both sides depicts Americans and westerners as a whole as self interested and selfish, and we depict the Soviets throughout years of propaganda as mindless automataons driven by fear and intimidation to follow orders by leaders far away. But this really shows the nuances of reality. The leaders are up there with them. You can literally see an officer on the roof. They stayed with their liquidators generally as long as they stayed. Longer than the average one too, since they stayed the whole time. People didn’t do this out of fear or intimidation. They stayed past when they needed to often out of a sense of duty to others around them. It’s the reality of the world I think, that people are far better then people often give them credit for. Anywhere in the world really.

MIN 5:01. 😂

This is not science fiction. You can watch here the *actual*, *real* scenes of one of the most dangerous enterprises in human history. Walking among radioactive debris that can kill you if you stay there just one minute longer, and that probably will kill you anyway in the following years due to cancer. And they knew that, they could *measure* that with their instruments. They knew that, however they did it. Since it had to be done. I am a nuclear engineer and I teach radiation protection in an Italian University. I bow my head to those men, they are heroes. However, I personally hope that no one else in the future will have to do what they had to do: human society needs responsible leaders that manage technology in such a way that heroes are not needed. Respect. Great respect to those good men there: my heart goes with them and their families. Grande, grande coraggio ed efficacia, vi abbraccio tutti, ovunque voi siate ora. ❤
