I'm on holiday here and searched for keywords on purpose. I was stunned by how rude certain people acted towards us 😂😂😂 over the past week it happened a lot. Even the staff of the train quietly tried to push our empty baby buggy out of the train at a random stop 😢

But beside that I have to say I have also met nice people. Usually young student folks. My tactic is to look for those if I need something

I don't understand why people complain about 'not speaking english'. Bruh, It's Hungary, not England. People speak their own language in their own land. I have been to countries where no one speaks english (and i don't speak their language) even in the tourist areas and i still had a great time. It's no big deal.

Szia, Sandra. As an American, I will say that it’s a little hard to get used to the formalities of how Hungarians speak to people that they just meet. I understand that it’s not rudeness, it’s just the culture to treat strangers differently than close friends. In America, everybody is expected to be friendly right off the bat and is supposed to smile and look you in the eye. Very rarely are Americans formal with each other. Most Americans aren’t even formal with their employers or those who are older than them. It’s just something that is has faded out of the culture over the years. Many Americans mistake this formality with unfriendliness. Don’t feel bad. It’s not Hungary’s fault. It’s Americans’ misunderstandings of your culture.

You defined belépõ as entrance fee, yet this word ought to mean stepping into or entrant. Is there a fuller term that also means entrance fee?
