  Candy, do you take notes in a Bible journal. I find it hard to fit everything I want to write in the Bible margins. Definitions,..history and so on.

  I write my notes very tiny, in the margins, and top and bottom of my pages in a normal margin Bible. Sometimes I need to write a longer note in the back, in which I put a little note, indicating that. My next Notes Bible may be a Wide Margin. I haven't decided yet. 🙂

  Thanks for this. I have to say the CEB disappointed me in Luke 10 by assigning Martha household duties, when all we really know is that she was diakonosing. Weirdly, the Inclusive Bible does the same...

  I agree. I have yet to find a good bible that honestly shows Martha ministering. They assume too much.

  Mrs. Candy, I have followed you for many you years. When I became a young mom you had a blog and I followed it and grew in my walk and my homemaking skills based on things you shared. I mean, no disrespect; this seems a little different from the things you talked about years ago. When and how did you come about this new look? I would like to ask in complete respect.   Candy…with the Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible…a friend from church told me that it says the Israelites did not cross the Red Sea…but a lake in the north. Other passages were taken out of context, also. She said it was not Biblically correct. What do you think?

  It says they crossed the Red Sea, but also says that some believe it was actually the Sea of Reeds, and then it mentions a few other options.

  I sure wish they would bring back the NRSV Cultural Background bible back in print book form. I missed it when they were out. Not a fan of digital. It truly is a rare edition ($$). I'm anxiously awaiting your review of the Westminster Study Bible. Thanks!

  I have the NRSVue premium Bible, and it is extremely nice. Also have a premium Allan KJV, too, which I still love to read, especially the Psalms, etc. Time will tell if I ever prefer the NRSVue, but so far not disappointed! I agree, have had too many Bibles fall apart on me! I add ribbons to mine if needed by taping nicer quality ribbons on a cardboard and slip it into the spine area, no glue. I can use these or not by taking them out, or even exchanging for another color scheme. I prefer the ribbons to be longer, also. 🥰

  The 2 witnesses are called up to heaven in the end of the 6th trumpet. The saints in Christ are raptured in the 7th trumpet, along with the 144,000 virgin Jews.

  Wanted to ask you. Is your pocket Holborn soft and does it lie flat when you open it? Mine is so stiff, the leather doesn't feel soft as all, and it doesn't lie flat. So annoying.

  I bought this bible in black leathersoft for $20 CAD, and it turned out to be my favorite text block. It's highly readable. I also think the NRSVue, though not perfect of course, is the best translation out there.

  I have been against Halloween for decades. When our kids came, my MiL had fits because I wouldn't let them participate. I finally condescended to dressing them up as Old Testment Moses and Noah, and made their costumes. We stopped by in-laws house and let them give them candy. I got so tired of being slammed for my beliefs back then. Then, for Christmas I told them "Santa Claus" was fake, they got their presents, but no mysterious elf to come and give them gifts. She had a further tantrum!! She had the gaul to tell my kids I was crazy and that there is a Santa. Later on, I asked my kids if my idea of telling them "no Santa is not real" was wrong? They said it did not hurt them, and that helped them to understand I would not lie to them. Easter was no better . . .😢

  Excellent! Finally someone shows how these verses truly speak of and for women. I always believed the entire chapter of I Corinthians 14 was about speaking in tongues or prophesying; in context. Some men love to point out the one verse that women should not speak all, and apply it to everything else, or other things. However, you have dug a little deeper and explained it even better!

  Haven't made it through the whole video yet, you inspired me to check out Ephesians 5 in different translations. It appears the NRSVUE went backwards, placing the verse about mutual submission in the pericope prior to "The Christian Household." Any ideas why they made that choice?

  I'm uncertain as to why the NRSVue went differently than the NRSV and the RSV. Perhaps they did this because they made verse 21 as part of the sentence in verse 20. However, the way the NRSVue has it doesn't work in the Greek, as the word "submit" is not in the Greek in verse 22.
