What the fishing like this time of year for kokanee?
@@jerrymejia3952 It’s good. Upper water column early and move deeper when the sun get ups.

the intro music gives me chill, what is it? thank you!🎉
@@kuang01 I’m not sure🤦🏻♂️. It was on the iMovie list. I’ll see if I can find it
@@countryboy360 so hendrixy and it fits the crabbing so much.
@@countryboy360i got it! music.kzread.info/dash/bejne/c3V-mLuGo7KTkdo.html&si=W4FPTap5Hwfi4t_F
They made the limit 4 based on the projection of 56k fish returning. Its looking like they overestimated big time and the run is already tapering off at 21k. We’ll see how many come in the next week or two, but historically the peak tends to happen mid July.
@@Fairdemand554 I agree. They overestimated. Hopefully they learn from this and go back to normal for next year. Really over fished this year I believe.
Making good use of your sockeye? Haha
@@ShenpaiWasTaken Yes. Makes good crab bait😂
Very nice. You guys got on the fish.
@@PavlusAdventures Was another good day. I’m happy with the amount of fish I have caught. Been a good year for me
I agree 💯 I just hope the fishing gets better. With a 4 fish limit, their gonna fish em out as fast as they put em in
@@jakes8279 Exactly. Good luck on any future trips. I think I will go a couple more times this year.
@@countryboy360 I might go 1 or 2 more times if the fishing gets good. It's just hard to get up there super early and it's a 2 HR drive for me. Its hard to beat going out in the sound and coming home with limits of crab and coho
@@jakes8279 I understand that. I live on Whidbey and fish the sounds lots. Going to drop pots tomorrow for crabs.
Getting crab tomorrow might be up this weekend. Have to slap my bosses hand after he lost 2 last week.
@@spensinthevalley3099 Sounds similar to my plans except I don’t have a boss. Well I do but I call her wife😂.
what size hook?
@@adamnoga-styron7882 I have the best luck with dual 2/0 hooks.
Nice fishing. You guys caught 2?
@@PavlusAdventures Yes. Seems to be my target. Other than opening day I have caught 2 every outing except for the trip yesterday that I’m editing today were I caught 3
Nice set up. I haven’t run the sling blades before. They look fishy.
@@PavlusAdventures Lots of action if you put a slight bend in them.
@@countryboy360 yea. I do that to my other dodgers.
@@PavlusAdventures Makes a huge difference when running short leaders.

AWESOME!!!!
Thanks!!
will baker lake fishing get better over time or worse? Im headed there in a week. Everyone sayings its been slow? Maybe they got pressured pretty hard opening week?
@@dajnetwork7557 It will get better. The sockeye usually don’t show up till around this time. Last year they were early so they opened it early. Most of my fish in years past have been after 15th of the month. They are mismanaging it this year in my opinion. Also it’s usually a 2 fish limit to start. They stated with 4 this year. Makes it’s overfished.
@@countryboy360 very cool! Thank you. One more question. I’m driving out from Port Angeles: Is early am only good time? Or evenings just as good? Might have to do two days if we don’t limit out.
@@dajnetwork7557 I have never caught anything in the evening. There is a Facebook group called Baker Lake Fishing Reports that might have a better answer.
@@countryboy360 awesome! Thank you

Nice fish! It's been a bit slow the last week sadly
@@ShenpaiWasTaken Agree. I’ve squeaked out about 2 per trip.
We'll be going up for the first time on the evening of the 18th and staying in the campground next to the ramp. Hoping to come home with a chest full of fish!

There were not many fish in there opening day. I'm surprised it was that good. Counts are up to 1,000+ fish a day now, so it should be getting better. I might try it later this week with my Kayak. Its a two-hour drive for me.

@@ShenpaiWasTaken Thank you
Nice video, I’m going to try out there tomorrow morning in my kayak. What depth you catch them at? Last year they were hitting at 45 ft deep
@@masonsmith9668 I’ll be out in my boat. It’s a gray Crestliner. Start at 20’. As the sun gets brighter(after 730ish) start dropping about 10’ hour. I catch 99% of mine between 20-45’.
@@countryboy360 How far back from the downrigger clip are you setting the dodger?
@@horaiyo I use a 30’ setback because I’m using an electric motor on my boat and the same when I’m in my kayak. If using gas I would go back 50’.
Awesome job! Glad you had a good time! I just came back from Baker this morning and it was a bit rough today. Went 0-3. It looks like a lot of other people were having trouble as well. Seemed slow. What is your preferred leader length/line strength if you don't mind me asking. I'm thinking of shortening up my leaders to like 9 in and maybe upping the strength just to get more action on my lure.
@@ShenpaiWasTaken Saturday was lights out. Sunday had 2 bites and 2 landed. Will get better this week. I have videos of my setup you can see. I run a 12” leader from the knot to the end of the last hook. A short leader is better and putting a bend in your dodger.
Nice I added an electric winch for my Lynx I the garage I like that yours is very simple design

What made you go with the NK180 over the Bixpy for the Hobie Compass.
@@vjarmon3536 At the time I was unfamiliar with the Bixpy. I had multiple friends who ran the NK180 and had very good things to say about it. I really don’t know much about the Bixpy.
@@countryboy360 thanks for the quick reply. I have a Hobie Compass and I was looking at the nk180 or the Bixpy. Both about same price once you add battery to NK180 or the kayak mount to the Bixpy. NK180 also has more power.
@@vjarmon3536 I loved the NK180 on mine. Worked great.
I like that color and blue and white
@@cuberasnapper1352 Never tried that but I actually have a blue and white buck tail jig. Guess I need to rig it up. Thanks.
What’s that bottom one called?
@@cuberasnapper1352 Grand Slam Bucktail jig. Anything that looks similar to a fly or even a fly is great. Especially after the fish start to feel all the heavy pressure.
That push light looks interesting, haven’t seen them before. Do you have a link to it? Thanks

👋👋 take me sliding setup for weight right so your not running riggers?
@@thefishingfienchannel7497 I do both. I usually run riggers on my boat and sliding weight on the kayak.
@@countryboy360 ok 👍 probably wont get riggers until next season, assuming youve got a fish finder(i dont), is there a certain depth range i should stay in maybe 20ft-60ft on Baker
apologies trynna get as much help as i can will sockeye travel far in the water column like in clear water or do i need to put it on their noses?
@@thefishingfienchannel7497 Start at 20’. The sockeye are up there before sunrise and for a little while after. If you are not getting any bites drop down 10’ increments till you get to 50’. I catch 95% of my fish between 20-50’ with 40 being a sweet spot. Troll slow. Less than 1mph.
@@thefishingfienchannel7497 No apologies needed. Hope I can help. Early season they are aggressive. Just be in the area. Later season harder to catch. When it gets late season I change stuff up. Don't break the windshield in your crestliner. That'll be a $1900 mistake. I'm going through it right now
Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Which model do you have?
True, Those windshields cost a lot. I have a tracker boat, and I use a windshield cover whenever I’m on the road, it was like 190$

Not a good idea to wear muck boots. If you fall over they will fill with water and you will sink like a rock. Good video.
Thank you. What would you recommend? I have the boundary boot but if they get wet in cold temps my feet get cold. Thank you for any recommendation you have.
Is this at Lawson reef or are you closer to Whidbey? Would like to get on those green ling and Starry Flounder.
Both. At Lawson Reef I usually catch greenling, rockfish and lingcod. I have never caught a flounder at the reef. For flounder you can catch them from West Beach all the way down to NAS Whidbey. Hope that helps and if you need anymore information just ask. Maybe we can go together sometime. Be safe.
We will be seeing Scott this coming Sunday. I grew up on Whidbey but live in Arizona now, and my boy has never been ocean fishing.
Y’all will have a great time. Scott and Jamie are wonderful. Have fun out there and enjoy your trip.
