  I've tried(for 2 decades now)but I just don't like the boss themes in MGS2. The Duel theme in MGS1 made the battles seem epic and dire. Like the fate of the world rests on your shoulders. Failure is NOT an option. Made you feel like a mythic hero(which Snake was). The boss music in MGS2 sounds like a cross between elevator music and electronic pop in some dingy off the grid club. That was most likely the intention, but because it was purposeful doesn't make it a great decision. Some aspects of MGS2 feel like "it's bad on purpose" self sabotage. Like thay made the themes in MGS2 lackluster because they wanted the player to feel lackluster as Raiden, and no matter how deep of a sell they try to word it...that was a poor decision.
