  I believe the joke is a reference to how jujutsu sorcerers always put up a veil barrier for curse extermination jobs?

  "Emerge from the darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure." to jjk sorcerers, barriers such as veils can be seen as a dark sphere surrounding a given area. Veils are necessary for the secretive nature of jujutsu sorcery missions. It's not like non-sorcerers can't seen into it, it's that can't see anything odd or 'wrong' within it "I'll put a veil up for us", as a joke, is utilizing the simple fact that a veil is dark. Also, if light is completely removed from a room by turning off the lights, those outside would not be able to see in and would not know what is happening inside (which i guess is more of an actual barrier but not here for semantics), and therefore not see any actions the suggested couple would take.
