After going through 130 or so VHS tapes, sharing some odds and ends which I was pleased to come across and which do not seem to be available elsewhere. All rights rest with the copyright owners.
I worked at LWT at this period. It was the production assistant's job to view and sign off the correct version before passing it to transmission. This PA, who shall remain nameless, was notoriously lax and should have lost her job over this, but was astonishingly let off.

LWT at the time, as I checked, was about to launch overnight programming in 1987, which effectively brought the station to a round-the-clock service outside breakfast slots. What a way to end the switchoff reminder era for the channel.

The clips of this 'Afternoon Club' thing mostly all seemed a bit messy - not least the avoiding of the pre-progeamme idents tending to mean messy intrustion on opening titles/theme music. They were over 3 years ahead of their time with doing thst, and then the rushed decision to drop pre-programme idents from 1 January 1988 - though companies like Granada abd Yorkshire disagreed and tried to resist for a while.

A bad 1982 for L.W.T. They also could not show the end of the LIVE coverage of The 1982 U.S. Masters Golf major owing to the fact that on Sunday evening at midnight E.W.T.N. [The then U.S. arm of I.T.N]. took over the satelitte. A week later the late Dickie Davies had to say sorry and the last 50 minutes were shown including the 1982 play-off won by Craig Stadler. The U.S. Masters commitee were not happy and in 1983 4 and 5 the U.S. Masters coverage went to Channel Four.
