Great video thanks for posting 👍😁🇺🇸
Great video, great tutorial. Regards
Thank you!
I don’t think that one 5-shot group compared to a 3 or 2 shot group is close to sufficient sample size. Shooting off a bag, in the wind, with a random weight (suppressor) hanging on the barrel may have introduced some other variables to the test. “We’ll never know” That said, I tried sorting and found more variance - both more sizes and more rounds in each size than you did. I was sorting Eley Tenex and Lapua Midas +. I compared five 5-shot groups of sorted ammo to unsorted and found no difference, on average. Shot from a 1-piece rest with a custom benchrest rifle with a barrel tuner tuned to the ammo being tested. Minimal wind.
Hope all that work helps you. I for one refuse to do it. It really has zero benefit for the type of shooting we do in tactical matches. Thanks for the comment.
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork I agree that tactical competition is much more dependent on the shooter achieving a stable aim than the precision of the ammo or rifle. The targets are relatively large and nicking an edge counts as much as a dead center hit. In benchrest, I lose by too many 1/16” misses.
Lemishine is Citric Acid.
yep, thanks for watching.
"Interesting, not Amazing". IMO that sums up the Savage B22, Springfield 2020, Ruger Precision Rimfire & the Bergara B14. I've owned all of them, and sent all of them down the road. The Ruger being the worst of that bunch. They're OK Rifles for the price point, and if you want to fiddle-fuk them into running consistently. If you're going to screw around changing stocks and barrels; just buy once, cry once and buy something nice.
👍 thanks for the comment. I just picked up a Springfield 2020 in 6.5PRC. That video is coming. Guess we’ll see.
I am not convinced that Vudoo outperforms Anschütz insofar as ISSF competition is concerned.
I’ve never owned an Anschutz. Maybe someday I’ll get to do that test.
Thank you for the video. Enjoyed your wind anylysis. Interesting. I’ve been thinking about a proof for my Cross. We appreciate your expertise and hard work producing your vids.
you're welcome. Greatly appreciate this comment!
can you recommend a bore guide for a 22?
I like these. Just be aware that they are action type specific. www.midwayusa.com/product/1014679147?pid=312386
First off, it's HARrell's. Secondly there is a very simple technique that will pretty much guarantee .1 grain variance from charge to charge. Trust me, the benchrest boys have been using them for many years, and those guys define what group size is all about. Last I heard one of them shot a 1.068 five shot group at 1000 yds.
that's a crazy tiny group. Thanks for watching.
Ok, so don't use the impact driver for my lug nuts to tighten the scope rings.
thanks for watching
I've got an AXMC in .338LM, Kahles K525i DLR, Eratec assembly, B&T suppressor and Atlas Bipod. It shoots extremly good and it's high quality. The only thing I don't like on AI is, that they don't give you anything extra. My rifel came on a plastic bag. Every extra thing costs way more.
yeah for the money I feel like they should atleast include a second mag and a hard case.
I over came the same problem with a bag rider buy purchasing a piece of aluminum channel 3/4 x 1/2 at Home Depot. I epoxied it to the bag rider very carefully to keep straight , problem solved. I have the same rear bag . Added nothing for weight and I made it slightly longer . That’s for what you share with us
Dam out correct! Should be Thanks for all you share
Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Thanks for the very informative video. I am a BR peep sight shooter and I am always looking for ways to improve my precision. Based upon your test results, I will try Eley ammo next. Eley seems to deliver the most consistent shots.
you're welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting.
🇺🇸
Thank you sir.
I can't remember in the original video, what was the factory barrel group sizes? This Proof can do .5moa obviously.
I didn’t shoot any groups in the first video, but the factory barrel was usually 3/4” - 1” groups at 100Y.
ELD Match has honestly been shit for the last few years now. My last lot of 147’s had an ES of 75 and SD of 28. I can buy S&B for half the cost and get twice as good ES/SD’s.
I don't like the 147s either. Don't have good luck at 1000 with them
Yeah I've been hearing mixed reviews lately. Unfortunate, because they used to be excellent.
The horizontal stringing on the Express looks like trigger press dude, no offense....
K
The SD and ES for the 140gr. ELD Match is about what I got a few months ago out of my Bartlein barrel and using the Garmin chrono. It was the 2nd group ever out of the new barrel but I got an SD of 13.9 and ES of 42.
I expect better than that, don’t you?
Absolutely. I've heard from multiple people that Hornady's ammo has been a bit less consistent since covid
@@Blanch1792 same
I had the same results with there 223 and there 6.5 prc ammo but just the Match ammo some of there other like the ELD-X I got good results from.
Nice shooting, those Proof carbonfiber wrapped barrels are fast🔥🔥🔥
Thanks. Yeah no complaints here.
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Great video, thank you.
You bet!
Nice work sir! I am thinking of doing the same on my 308 Cross Trax. I didn’t realize how easy it is to swap barrels. Thx
No problem 👍
Ive heard mixed reviews about carbon barrels. Ive been thinking of getting a straight jacket armory proof barrel for my Cross but im concerned it wont be as consistent as a steel barrel. I want it to be both a hunting rifle and a fun gun. I'd be curious to see how your groups stay consistent over the course of 10 or 20 rounds, and how it responds to being shot while decently warm.
I hear you. On that note, no barrel performs well when overheated.
I have that same spotting scope, what phone mount are you using??
Here you go. It's not perfect, but it's one of the easier adapters I've found. www.apexellens.com/product/f002-universal-smartphone-adapter/
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork Thanks my man!!!
Get you some Thorro clean down that barrel after all shooting, my proof barrel went up 75-80 after 150 rounds and a good cleaning groups tightened up slightly
cool, thanks.
Nicely done Sir.
Thank you kindly
How much corn did you bag?
LOL atleast 4 or 5 stalks.
Are high SDs and ES's maybe because it is a fresh barrel?
Yes. This 👆
yes it could be that. I'll test again after the barrel breaks in.
What a nice spread, you would have, a cold Bavarian wheat beer, or an Argentinian malbeck to enjoy with it.
Mmm a beer would have been excellent
Already have mine and absolutely love it.
👍
Just swapped my cross 308 with proof carbon drop in. Headspace was perfect and it went from a so so shooter, 1 moa to under 1/2 moa. Very happy.
Yes. 👍 my experience exactly.
Thank you for the informative video on the Garmin. You're correct, time to ditch the Labradar due to its size and inconsistent performance. In the past Labradar was notorious for ignoring its customer's and not fixing software issues. If Labradar hadn't ignored its customer's for so many years, I would had gone with their new small chronograph. That's why I bought the Garmin chronograph yesterday and will be trying it out at the gun range this morning. My only disappointment so far on the Garmin is, I can't start and end a session from the app. Maybe Garmin can have a software update that will do that in the near future. Thanks again for the great video.
I agree with all that. That’s for watching.
I wish the sig cross came in 300 Blackout
With ar15 mags and a SBR option would be a hot ticket
Eric is very down to earth. Especially being so successful in his craft. Wish he was my neighbor.
Yeah he knows some stuff. 😉
I love this topic and the idea of customizing the cross platform. This particular camera angle is a little frustrating. It would be a big improvement if it was zoomed in more, but ideally something like a forehead mounted GoPro would be great. Or a chest mount camera.
Noted. Thanks for the comment. The part 2 video drops on Saturday and I didn't use this angle at all. It's entirely outside at the range.
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork Thanks for the reply, I'm looking forward to part 2!
