Who are the Copts?

The Coptic Orthodox Church is Apostolic. She was founded by St. Mark the Apostle and Evangelist (one of the 72 Apostles chosen by Christ), when he preached Christianity in the city of Alexandria in circa 43 AD. We have since kept the faith intact. Our current Patriarch HH Pope Tawadros II is the 118th Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

What is our Christian Objective?

We believe a Christian’s purpose is to enlighten those around him through his or her own unity with Christ. This ultimate objective is achieved through sharing in the Sacramental Life of the Church, which was handed down through Holy Tradition (which includes the Holy Bible as its major source) from the Apostles till this day. The Coptic Orthodox Church intends to keep this Life intact that Christians may enjoy the fullness of unity with the One Trinitarian God. This fundamental purpose starts with proper Orthodox Teaching.

Thanks abouna, very important information especially for the Protestant believers who pick and choose what's authentic or not pertaining to the early church writings. Some will even call them apostles believe it or not. God bless you 🕊️✝️♥️🙏

decide in a Holy way, based on the Law of God the Creator, those who live in His Commandments to be Affiliated as His; in the Law of the Righteous of God Christ, the Blessed; and in those who observe the Jurisprudence of the Saints, blessed Vessels of God Paraclete God Christ Loves us more than we love ourselves, perhaps one day we will come to understand Him.

Be careful with false prophets, for my muhammad he was a false prophet who did not live in a Holy way, due to his decisions of fornication, pedophilia and armed war of conquest, of persecution against the Holy Church of the Risen One, I consider him a false prophet Let's know people by their decisions, not by their words Our Salvation depends on it, because if we allow ourselves to be led by someone who does not act in Holiness, we perish because of that guide. I think it will not be worth it for us to allege that that guide was the culprit, because that guide will bear his guilt, of course, but we decide freely, let's be prudent and cautious, of which, lost in trials like me, we need a lot of prudence and caution. undermined in our Faith towards God Christ, in the cracked foundations, our lives, our dwellings will fall

When I was younger, before I accepted Jesus as my Lord, I was heavily into rap music. But I noticed that these songs would make me think violent thoughts. And I would get myself riled up in my head. I don't care how old you are, those who are set apart for God should know better, that not all music is good for us. Now when I listen to secular music I tend to listen to older music which I find is no where near as vulgar as today's music. I also love country music. But my favourite type of music is music that brings me closer to God. So I listen to a lot of Christian chants and I absolutely love them. I know that music is a gift from God for us to enjoy, but like anything in this world, I believe that the devil will do anything to distort what is good, so it is imperative that we guard our souls from the unnecessary things and place our trust in God until the end of our days.

Thank you so much, Father! ❤ I am so grateful for this wisdom and grateful you take the time out for us. Happy Pentecost and blessed fast 🙏 it's our first time trying it my fiancé and i 😊 one day i wish we could visit a Coptic Orthodox church. I watched it live on CTV yesterday and it felt like heaven when they were chanting. It sounded like children singing in my ears and i felt God remind me "unless you come to Me as little children you can't enter the kingdom of heaven" 🙏

Abouna Antonis,....me personally,....I believe that as long as there is no Adultery or Sodomy, the Marriage Bed shared by both the Husband and Wife, can and shall remain undefiled. That is what both myself and Former E.W.T.N. Priest Fr. John Corapi of the Benedictine Fathers of Mercy Order believes, as well. Yet I also know that there is more to a Marital Relationship between Husband and Wife than just Sexual Intercorse.

Hey this was incredibly awesome! Somehow i have a bit of a disconnect when it comes to my Egyptian heritage because the only examples i ever saw were Muslim examples so i never could reconcile my own ideas about love with what they explained. I will be honest and hope I'm not offensive that i never felt i could relate to Egyptian culture very much. But somehow you all healed a part of me by explaining love in a way i could relate to but you all look like me and talk like me at the same time 😅 it's hard to explain because somehow i thought all Egyptians, even Coptics, would have the same ideas due to cultural norms in Egypt and the dominating influence... but what you all explained is altogether beautiful and true to God’s Word!! i really can't explain what i assumed but somehow i thought the topic of love would all be negatively unrelatable ... but wow it just goes to show Christians all share the same ideas of love from our Lord and Savior.... seriously thank you so much, precious Fathers and host for this spiritually healing nourishment! ❤

And there is no other animal who does so much damage and harm to God's creation, earth, and to the animals and to each other mankind, but man. Free will cannot be seen as such a virtue with this ability to act so destructively when all other creatures do not, and cannot even come close to comparison to what man has done on this planet.

Fr. Anthony, I continue to appreciate your responses when answering questions about other Christian traditions. I also find the greatest caution when someone is bashing a tradition not his. I continue to find that the best approach is to speak of what is beautiful in your tradition, and do not focus on what you find as disagreeable (or even heretical) in another's. Trinitarian, baptized Christians would do well to leave such issues to God, as you say.

This is the most God-inspired explanation of "vocation" I've ever heard from a priest. I'm a Catholic convert to Eastern Orthodoxy, and in Catholicism, the culture of vocations is terrible. Priests are considered superior to monastics, monastics are considered superior to married people, and celibate people... they're just not married/monastics/priests "yet". There is a movement to restore the "vocation" of the "consecrated virgin" in Catholicism, but that applies only to women. Catholics are incredibly narrow-minded when it comes to these questions, and it places far too much pressure on people. As a single 44-year-old woman, I've felt the truth of what you're saying for years, but it wasn't until I embraced Orthodoxy that someone actually affirmed it, and this is a beautiful articulation of that Truth. Thank you, Father!

This is me dear. I am 52 this year- was engaged at 21 - he was unfaithful in many ways. Again at 23, I found a wonderful man who turned out to be not so wonderful. Then my final try, someone I was so devoted to just disappeared- it was painful and soul destroying. Praise the Lord, he took me from the darkness and I am starting to thrive again.. many obstacles have been in my way. I am SO GRATEFUL to find your channel, I walk with the Lord always, he is all that I need. If a good strong man came along to take care of me, I would marry but only if and when God says it will be so. I do not seek, I am content with Christ.

Sister, I'm with you. Twice engaged, never married. After many years of promiscuity, God gave me the grace to live celibate, and I now do-with ease, thanks to Him. If a man came along, I would love the companionship. But as you say, "I do not seek, I am content with Christ." God bless you!

I thank you for discussing this topic, Abouna. I think the people who try to force marriage upon others are very much trying to do a good thing in their eyes, because forming families of believers is necessary and good. But between the monastic and the married, there is a range of people who aren't really a good fit for either lifestyle. The unmarried are untrusted, in my experience, and this is unfortunate.

What about compatibility when it comes to sex? What if you get married and you find that you don't want to be intimate with your partner because you don't enjoy it with them for whatever reason? Also, can there be a topic about divorce and sex? Especially if the divorce is due to domestic violence. It's extremely difficult these days to find a decent man to remarry. And how is it expected once you've been married to stop wanting a physical connection with someone after divorce?
