I think it was 30mm by 8mm mild steel. I don't remember the starting length of the stock but the finished tongs are around 40 to 45cm long

Thanks for the ideas for beginners. Every time metal is moved we’re learning more about how it behaves & how to use the tools we have. You’re the first blacksmith I’ve seen working copper pipe- that really opens up a whole new avenue, great look with the hammered finish too 👍⚒️

For something that will spend most of its time outside, I wouldn't recommend using wax. It will work but will need a lot of maintenance to keep it from rusting. I use a metal outdoor clear coat for my outdoor pieces.

Can you make the blade only without the handle? I am interested to only get the blade as I make the handle myself. And I would like to know if you want to make the blade for sale. I would like to buy them from you. Thank you for your reply

Didn't knew that bees wax was this effective at stopping rust. I mean the science checks out as the wax creates a protective barrier between the iron and the environment and therefore preventing any oxidation

I was just thinking about how it took so long to make things like swords back in the day, you had to hammer out massive billets by a sledge hammer for weeks and with out the use of power tools and reminded me how this kind of stuff was made when I saw you hammer by hand

Knife, nice, video work, nice...but I despise videos where you have to crank the volume to hear someone speak and then get your ears blown off by stupidly loud music. Tone the music volume down and you'd have a great video.
