Beth's death is still the single most traumatizing fictional death for me. She deserved so much better. Pretty much her entire character was centered around taking care of Judith, basically being her mom, then being this anchor for Daryl. The she just... dies.

I'm glad i didn't watch a single episode of twd until season 11 was about to release, i bought them all on dvd and just hit that wide open and i am a big fan now. Well of most of it, now trying to force myself to get through fear the walking dead on season 5 now also bought them all and never seen any before. And fear is nothing like that feeling you get from the original show.

Yea because I stopped watching after Rick left. It felt like Rick was the show. Ricks mindset was felt beyond the show. I tried to watch it after the character left and it didn't feel the same. Yes other characters were there but I didn't feel the same way about them as I did Rick. Watching him make difficult choices and trying to find himself after all those choices is what made me love the character so much.

I’ve been waiting for a video like this to come out where someone is explaining how AMAZING this season is - and how it could even be the best Twd season. Yes I agree the whole hospital arc was NOT needed - Beth could have died in another way. The reason I think this season rules is because it is envelops the meaning of family and love in TWD and I think it’s linked to the “coincidence” thing which I like to view as fate. It was fate that they all reconnected in some way after the fall of the prison and it was just tear jerking and had me on the edge of my seat! The best parts of this season for me is Tyrese’s death / misdirect of it being Beth’s funeral, Michonne and Carl’s start of a mother/son relationship, Daryl and Beth’s near-relationship and learning more about Bob as well as the intro to Abraham, Rosita and Eugene. Oh and the Rick biting the throat off of that weird Claimer group. I enjoy how Aaron was introduced as “someone who was too good to be true” however I really hated the way the Alexandria plot drew out because imo it went downhill from here for the entire show. Anyway I share the majority of your views and love how well you’ve explained and described them using quotes and scenes from the show - your videos are always amazing!!

Absolutely adore this season, Terminus arc (ep1-3) and Early Alexandria arc (ep12-16) are some of my favorite episodes in the series! Seeing the contrast in some of the most depraved people/groups in their world versus people desperately trying to cling to what the old world was like (to their own detriment) was very engaging. Rick was of course very compelling, seeing him in his most primal state yet, and other characters like Glenn (who I felt lost a LITTLE bit of intrigue in s3/4), Abraham, Carol, Sasha and get to stand out as well for better or worse. The Beth hospital arc is definitely a big thing that drags this season down, especially with Dawn just being a very weird antagonist and the arc having a VERY unsatisfying ending. That plus some questionable character deaths like Tyreese (moreso for the WAY he gets chomped) and Noah (whose very early death if awesome from a practical effects standpoint, but feels like wasted potential and makes Beth's death feel even more pointless) are my only major gripes with the season. Other than that, I love the cast we have this season and the other plot points in the season. This is my second favorite season!

I think Dawn is my favoite, I loved the conflicts in that movie and Ceasar wanting to trust the humans but constantly questioning whether he should, and also the other way around. And also Koba was such a good villain, his motivations make sense, he just went down a bad path because he wanted vengeance so bad. The ending is amazing too, loved that fight between Ceasar and Koba. Such a great movie

I’m actually looking forward to the prequel because the story finally gets away from this “broken family in the countryside” dynamic that made it so boring for me. New characters and a busier location makes it more of a horror movie and less of a slow burner with some jumpscares. The challenge of the first movie was trying to keep a family of kids quiet which is annoying and cliche. With the new movie being set in a loud and crowded city like New York, this gives the story a more interesting and challenging atmosphere for the characters; and more insight into the creatures and where they came from. The first two movies slowed down the momentum of the story before it even began.

I’m glad that The Walking Dead ended up with AMC instead of HBO, especially considering how poor of a show Game of Thrones ended up becoming. The style of Breaking Bad works far better for The Walking Dead than the style of Game of Thrones because the focus should be the realism, not the fantasy, and some of the comic elements that were changed or removed in AMC’s show wouldn’t have translated well in an HBO show.

Fun fact, the prequel's sets were designed to match the base as it was in the 1982 film but they didn't have the exact measurements of the origianl set. So they designed them based on the height of Kurt Russell. It's given me a new metric for measuring things. One "Kurt Russell" makes something 5'9" tall. That means I am 1 Kurt Russell tall.
