I’m a Yank. I love League and I like Union. Both are wonderful codes. I got caught up in the slagging until a few weeks ago until I watched a Union game. Then I watched like 8 of them in a row. It was great. The Rugby League World Cup this year was phenomenal. It was great to see teams like PNG, Ireland, Lebanon, Tonga, Fiji and Samoa do well. One of the best games in either codes I’ve seen was Japan vs SA in the 2015 Union RWC. Eddie Jones had Japan playing quick. I love League because there’s not a lot of mucking about. The crowds and global reach of Union are phenomenal. We can live together. We can learn from each other. Some very smart people are looking at putting Super League teams in Boston, Philly and NYC. There’s a successful team now in Toronto. That could be a game changer. The NFL right now sucks beyond words. Total fucking disgrace and I was such a fan I flew to Miami for a Super Bowl. Once Yanks see League it will make a huge impact. Trust me. These league guys have class. They don’t talk shit on every play like the NFL. I don’t believe in God. Yet, I’m begging on my hands and knees for Super League to invade our country and save us from the dreaded NFL! Love League and like Union.

Besides both codes of the same sport using the wrong shaped ball, as a follower of neither I find Union much more palatable. There is more of a flow to Union (when it's played right, usually by NZ) and a big part why that is is due to the contested tackle. Union is not rapid fire stop start stop start like League. There isn't the same constant straight up running into a wall due of the risk of losing possession..so the ball must be passed around more. The play the ball routine wrecks League as a spectacle...over 300 times this stop start routine occurs apparently. Again no flow to the game...play, pause, play, pause.

League (which I prefer) has 2 options for players- play in the UK (and France) Superleague or the Australian (and NZL) NRL (England's RFL have a Toronto-based team starting in 2017 which should be interesting to see how the game does in North America). Union has the Premiership, Pro12, Top14, and Super Rugby as legit options and seemingly more money in it.
