    Is there any difference in efficacy between legume-derived DAO vs animal-derived? I’ve had good results with DAO from porcine kidney but it is pricey, especially since my histamine intolerance seems to be here to stay and is getting worse (I’m 53). I noticed symptoms of histamine intolerance after starting the keto diet about 5 yrs ago. I lost 80 lbs but felt like crap the entire time and couldn’t figure out why. After much research, I figured out that histamine intolerance was the cause of my symptoms. I stopped the keto diet but the histamine issues continued. Avoided high histamine foods and felt pretty good but between existing food sensitivities and eliminating high histamine foods, I was developing vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Unfortunately, my symptoms are worsening with age, so I am having to take DAO even when not eating high histamine foods to keep my symptoms at bay. Anyway, just wanted to see if you’ve noticed any difference between plant-based vs animal-based DAO. THANKS!

    I cant believe ive finally found this. The pain is so precise and intense at times, with all other symptoms like bloating, constipation. Mine is directly related to stress, its not flared up in a few years but right now its making a come back. Had a camera down my throat and all investigations under the nhs and they couldnt find the cause. Knowing what and why it is and how i can help myself is incredible. Thankyou x

  • @thesibodoctor
    @thesibodoctor2 ай бұрын

    Hi, Rowena here from The SIBO Doctor. It can indicate either high or low acid so you would use this information in conjunction with other signs to determine which may be an issue. As Dr Jacobi discusses, ridges in the fingernails and difficulty digesting protein (feeling heavy after eating meat etc..) may indicate low stomach acid. It's best to work with your healthcare practitioner to determine so that they can provide an appropriate protocol to improve your digestion.

    My 16 year old has Crohn's and I was hoping to get some DAO into him. All of his veggies need to be cooked and pureed right now because I need to make everything low residue. Does cooking destroy the DOA?

  • @thesibodoctor
    @thesibodoctor2 ай бұрын

    Hi, Rowena here from The SIBO Doctor. Sorry to hear that - Crohns is a tough condition to have. The research that looked at the concentration of DAO in sprouts only looked at fresh & frozen sprouted lentils so there wasn't data available on cooked lentils. Heat can degrade enzymes in some foods though so you may not necessarily get the same benefits with cooking.

    @@thesibodoctor yeah treated wastewater is not the same was wastewater. Treated wastewater has very strict regulations in the United States. The study clearly states that Africa Latin America and countries in other developing regions are more prone to using untreated wastewater. But in the United States if I was using untreated wastewater to treat my fields I guarantee you it would spoil my crops and ruin my reputation as a grower. It is in our best interest to produce the best crop yields to sell to consumers.

    My father complained of pain in this region back in 2006-2007 and underwent appendicitis. After recovering and couple of month's down the line, the pain returned so we were confused what really happened there! Since then, my father has been complaining of pain in the same region and it happens mostly after eating food. He gets acute bloating, pain (sometimes nagging but at times little elevated), blood in stool and has bouts of Diarrhea and vomiting. At times when there is less pain, he gets constipated. Underwent number of colonoscopies/endoscopy and the findings always pointed to inflamed or thickened Ileocecal region. In 2017, one RT/PCR biopsy called out TB but my father could only eat the meds for a week before showing to another doctor who started Crohn's treatment. He managed his symptoms for a while with similar bouts of issues mentioned above but in 2022 when he went to ER again due to pain and upon family insistence, started TB treatment but he cut-short after 2.5/3 months due to liver toxicity and also memory impairment from Levofloxacin. His symptoms however have remained same and he is malnourished because he is scared of eating food that he once liked and has lost weight and does not feel like eating much. As I write, he is once again in Hospital getting treated for Crohn's and has been put on steroids and TPN diet through IV and is due for a Colonoscopy once again. I feel like a helpless son and don't know how to help. Thinking if surgery would be a better option and probably resecting the ileocecal section might help him. Ideally, we want this to be resolved via medicines and other means like lifestyle/diet management and possibly any form of exercise. What I need to know is if, he gets pain in future, which is normally after taking meals, can I try this reset exercise every night or every hour after eating food maybe to see if this helps him?

    I will be genuine and say I honestly thought this was some weird useless medical advice at first, but I was desperate so I tried this. I knew nothing of Kinesiology. I was having pain and very intense bubbling (felt and sounded like popcorn popping all the time) right where the valve was for months on end. I’m assuming it was closed which was causing the sensation of hundreds of tiny bubbles flowing into my large intestine, almost like a carbonated drink expelling into my colon. I tried this move several times one day and I ended up passing extremely gross smelling greenish-yellow bowel the next day. After that I had no more bubbling or pain. It actually works. I am sorry I doubted this type of medical advice and practice. Thank you for helping me. I’m definitely going to look for a local kinesiologist in my area!!
