The sludge, varnish, buildup, whatever, by the oil filler/cap area, is a telltale sign of what that engine’s been through… You definitely might wanna “flush” it yourself, by draining and filling twice; maybe even using “motor oil flush” formulas, if you’re certain you don’t have a leak. Those are the only circumstances I’d recommend using an engine “flush” formula under. Some engines are just naturally loud when cold starting. Running a thinner oil with the cold weight reduced, can really really help; but decreasing in increments of like -5W at most (ex: 5w-30 to 0w-30). I wouldn’t bother running thicker oil if you increase the cold weight, bc it would just stress the engine during startup, and during the warmup phase. Full synthetic motor oil is highly recommended, and semi-synthetic is like even more readily available than TRYING to find a conventional motor oil, nowadays… If you want, you could use stuff like oil stabilizer; but like I said, it’s more of a band-aid, although probably less damaging than trying to run thicker motor oil.

This is super common on this generation of Kia engines, I’m not 100% sure I know what it is but initially the top of the engine was dry like poor oil flow… after an hour or so of running with seafoam it was flowing well.

lol engine just warmed up only way seafoam would do that is if it didn't have enough oil. Seaform is for cleaning out combustion chamber and well oil shouldn't really be in the combustion chamber unless the valve seals and piston rings are worn.

That what happened to my corolla...cleaned the engine so well it accully started making more noise because now there are wider gaps in the over all parts of the engine like gears, springs, rocker arms, tappits...gear box valves, piston rings so on and so on, So since it cleaned incredibly well, I had to use Lucas Engine Oil Stablilizer and and slightly thicker oil from 5w-30 to 10w-30....so really to avoid all this additives cleansers so just change your oil ever 3 to 5000 miles you be good for life of the engine

  • @jay915jay

The one thing about all these products is that with regular use you usually won’t notice a difference. However if your engine is having problems you will notice a difference.
