Preach about that center channel, Bob! 🙂I totally agree. Some divergence maybe, but use that hard center!

How frustrating… Would buy the Dante version in a second if it had 8 DCAs as well as gates and compressors on every channel… This is exactly the form factor I want a console to come in, the price is right, etc. - it’s just missing some really important features…

Could you please tell me if this recorder will work with the PowerBank? If I take out the batteries and connect the recorder to the PowerBank with a USB cable, will it work?

The difference is in the mixing engineers ears. And the teamwork done between them and the mastering engineer….nobody today does drums and mastering the way I like it….sure things sound good but not unique. Today’s music in the mainstream field is straight garbage….thats the real problem….aint nobody making great songs today.

Love the tilt up screen but come on Midas, give is a built in fader panel with masters & then there is space for additional control encoders. A proper compact version please; not this half-assed 2 piece thing...

Almost nothing will sound quieter on spotify... in fact, if something does sound quieter it means it was probably very loud and it was turned down... then due to it being loud in the bass region and having no dynamics it will seem quiet when the volume is turned down relative to a song that is -18 LUFS that spotify boosts to -14 using it's algorithm, which doesn't simple push the volume up, it pushes certain frequencies.

What audio interface are you using with this microphone? I have the most expensive XLR cable you can get and the microphone still is very noisy. My audio interface is a solid state logic two

Great interview, thank you. It´s great that someone with such a brilliant career like Bob, advocates the use of the center channel on Atmos mixes. Something that has been neglected on so many Atmos mixes, and that I never quite understood. Coming from a post background, I always thought that the center channel would be awesome for vocals, bass and other instruments if the mix asks for it. Universal on their specs for music mixing in Atmos, clearly disencourages the use of it for vocals, I guess based on the assumption that it could then be isolated and used for other purposes. But the point is that with today´s stem splitter AI processing technology becoming almost perfect, I think it doesn´t make sense anymore. And Atmos mixes with center channel even if just for vocals, sound to my ears way much better.

This could be a good system once it is released, not too heavy and still powerful. Without the app, you have to stand on your knees to see all the buttons and the display, so the app is necessary, at least for me. It's well overdue so I'm a little worried that there might be some issues with the first version so I wish they could communicate a little more about what's going on. I'm still keen to test the system at my outdoor gigs so I hope the system will be released before the end of the summer.

How did you manage to run FOH for a band that size from a DM3 which only has 16 inputs. Surely they have way more inputs than that with all the drums / keys / instruments and vocals combined.

This is true to an extent: I think the problem comes in when you have “complete in the box” productions. There is a reason why dr Dre uses an ssl console still (uses plugins as well). I think if you got your sounds pretreated with some analog gear then you are golden to mix in the box.
