    This is an absolute masterpiece if you ask me that doesn’t get anywhere near enough recognition. Call me weird but I prefer this over the stuff used in the Titanic movie. Maybe it’s just cause it’s so overplayed compared to this but this is true to the actual Titanic and not two rebellious love birds on a ship, lol. Thanks.

    The positive is the clarity and separation. You can hear everything and the sound is spread beautifully across the speakers. However it's also tame - it lacks aggression and the vocals are too low in the mix. Interesting but not an improvement on the original.

    Very nicely said! I also do agree, though I hadn't specifically thought of it before, the vocals get buried more than they should.

    I found this ❤ love it ! I love titanic not the movie the rich history of it all and the gilded age . I remember watching a scene from the cartoon animaniacs where the characters were lost at sea and 3 ships came to their rescue on being titanic . My dad laughed cuz all the ships had sunk . So I look up titanic on the encyclopedia and was astounded by how many people perished and then saw the A&E documents and loved it ! Of course I saw the 1997 movie loved it too but my favorite is still the documentary

    I'm sorry I don't have that, though if any other music from the documentary is located or identified I'd certainly share it. The two score tracks from the documentary here on my channel were downloaded from the composer, Christopher Stone's website (which seems to have been taken offline permanently roughly a year ago) and those were the only two pieces he opted to share. Another ragtime-style track by Stone was later sent to me by a viewer to post here, but I'm a bit unsure how that was originally found and that viewer received it from another person. Anyway, you can find more detail about this in the comments for the Titanic Hymn video, but various fans have tried contacting Mr. Stone over the years and the reports are that he was unfriendly and had no desire to share any more of the music. Apologies to be the bearer of that bad news.

    I was obsessed with the Titanic since the age of six. I begged my parents to take me to the local library to borrow every Titanic book they had. When I finally got the courage to go to the main wing the first thing I saw was this documentary in 4 VHS tapes. Eventually I found it on DVD and would always watch it. I can still hear Walter Lord's words and see the faces of everyone who passed away on that night when I listen to this piece.

  • @jonathanbennaman6753
    @jonathanbennaman6753 Жыл бұрын

    Finding that particular version might be a little difficult, trying to get in contact with Mr Stone is not easy, someone else tried to reach out to him regarding some other music clips that he requested from the documentary and Mr Stone replied in a very negative manner, unless it can be extracted from the documentary itself, instead of the violin version heard in the 1997 movie the version I heard on the documentary is played with a trumpet

    Would you happen to have the Main Titles?? And the cue when they showed the ship is sinking? It was a dark and haunting cue.

  • @PLQ2K
    @PLQ2K Жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately there's been very little score music found from the documentary. I would very much love to both have and share here the Main Titles, but I've yet to find that and from what I gather chances are slim it'll show up someplace (one of the composers passed away and the other has taken his website offline, doesn't appreciate fan messages, and he may just be fully retired). However, Titanic Hymn, which was posted on Christopher L. Stone's website, might be the score piece you're interested in when they show the ship sinking. That's quite upsetting that the site is down, makes me wonder if he removed his site to avoid any copyright issues, and to hear about his rude dismissive response to your polite email is very saddening, how can any composer with such beautiful taste in music respond in such a harsh manner 😢 this piece never fails in reducing the listener to tears so much sadness is imprinted in this hymn for every lost soul of the titanic

    The faded montage of steerage families, with this song and the voice David McCallum brings it home showing the depressing loss of life in this disaster. By far the best Titanic documentary and not many come close where many are on this site. I have no trace of human ancestry connected to this event, and yet the story of this ship as stuck with me a child and forever will. The stories that always bothered me the most of this sinking were the large third class families with aspirations to come to America, only to be dumped to the frozen bottom of the Atlantic ocean. Generations wiped out, children who never got a chance or even got a proper burial. My love for the subject of history all started with Titanic, and I would have loved to meet someone directly connected to this but sadly they have all passed on. No way to rewind time so I'll just say Rest In Eternal Peace to the victims. I'll never forget about Titanic, thank you for uploading this.

    I was browsing for this documentary and I found this video today. Not only is it a fitting tribute to the disaster, it's victims, the cast and crew who made the documentary, but it's the perfect song for a funeral scene in a soap opera drama finale, where the protagonists give the final farewell to the loved ones they've lost.

    So many memories. My interest in Titanic started a year before this documentary aired so when I first saw the promos on A&E, I was beyond thrilled. The only catch was that it aired on a Sunday and I had school the next morning so I couldn’t stay up to watch it. Luckily my grandmother recorded it for me (RIP Grams). After that copy wore out, I found out my local library had the box set so I would sometimes watch that. Fast forward a few years, and I eventually snagged a DVD copy which I still own and put on every now and then. Granted some of the information may be a little outdated, but IMO Death of a Dream/The Legend Lives On is the gold standard of Titanic documentaries. It’s tastefully done and informative, terrific interviews and voiceovers, and they could not have picked a better narrator than David McCallum. His voice is right up there with Martin Sheen’s narration for “Secrets of the Titanic”. Also that intro for both parts is still phenomenal.
