I was here! The funny, yet sadly fortunate thing is what transpired during my purchasing of my ticket. I was on the website minutes before the tickets went on sale (and it must have only taken a couple of minutes for the tickets to sellout), persistently refreshing the webpage at a frequency which exponentially increased as the magic hour approached. Finally, I was shown the glorious page that would allow me to purchase my golden ticket for the show! I filled out the pertinent information, and then the automated ticket-selling site inquired if a third row, middle section seat would be acceptable. Acceptable??!!! What kind of idiotic question was that. Regardless, I had no time to ponder upon such peculiarities, I was attempting to complete a transaction that would grant me access to witness what would surely be a most magnificent musical experience! With practically no hesitation at all, I confirmed that a third row middle ticket was acceptable, and proceeded to the checkout/purchasing of said ticket. Well, wouldn't you know it that up clicking the very last tab required for purchasing, the final click-here-to-confirm-you-want-to-complete-this-transaction, I was greeting with some form of the all too familiar animated graphical control element known as a throbber. However, this throbber just sat there spinning, and taunting me with what seemed like another cruel, and twisted jokes spun by life at my expense . . . the universe once again was saying, "Fuck you!" I couldn't believe what was transpiring, not this . . . do not take this once in a lifetime opportunity away from me, fuck me all you want, but give me this one thing! It didn't take me long to open a new tab and direct my browser to the ticket-selling site, where upon my arrival, I repeated the process yet again in what may prove to be a futile attempt to purchase a ticket. This time, it offered me second row balcony seats, and not in the middle but off to the side, a few seats from the side wall. I had nothing to think about, I immediately accepted the seat, and began the checkout process to complete my purchase. Prior to clicking on that last button to purchase, I quickly checked my original page on the other tab, the throbber was still throbbing, or circling, or rotating, or whatever terminology you prefer to utilize, I believe during that period of my life, my preference was the-universe-fucks-me-long-and-hard-as-if-it-hated-me, I returned to the new tab to complete my balcony seat purchase, which the site completed almost instantaneously, never displaying a throbber even for a split-second. Why couldn't have behaved in the same manner the first time??? I left that initial tab open just in case, I knew better, but I had to leave it open. I then threw an impromptu pity-party! Its celebratory emotional aspect was sharp and intense, but its duration was the briefest I have ever thrown. I would then focus on the positive aspect that I was still fortunate enough to gain a ticket, to be one of the lucky few to experience the splendor of seeing a truly unique musical genius on opening night. I am truly grateful for being a member of the audience, but to this day, I still feel a sharp twinge at the back of my skull, and at the base of my soul, when I recall how that third row seat ticket was presented to me, like a most miraculous blessing, and then devastatingly ripped away from me only mere moments later, and flaunted in front of me in such a manner it was akin to after all the years of the universe fucking me, it had finally achieved its most desirous conquest of penetrating my most holiest of holes!!! It may still hurt a little, but considering all, it was a small price to pay to see Tom Waits perform live!!!
