Three things: 1. The bonkers shit about the Endless 8 isn't just that it was the same script for two months. It's that, except for the credits, they didn't reuse a single frame of animation. It's a master class in using music, framing and line delivery to change the mood of a script. That leads to point 2: 2. The studio that put out Haruhi, Kyoto Animation, was the target of a brutal attack back in 2019. They're back in business, though, and if high school band PTSD flashback Sound! Euphonium season 3 is any indication, they're better than ever. Good animation is hard work, though, and it takes a lot of turnaround time if they're doing it ethically. KyoAni also probably has projects that they started before the attack that they want to finish up before taking new things on. 3. You're right about the money being important. Anime is advertising, and without something big to advertise, that's a lot of money going out without a clear return on investment.

Dude, after 15 years I'm still very sore about that awful 2nd season. Movie was great, they left the best book for the movie, but that season pretty much stopped the fandom on it's heels. Still love the novels tho.

& we were hyped when the mangaka announced the Hokkaido arc..... & Then came reports of the mangaka having actual c.p on his hard drives, stuff he used the profits for the manga & it gets worse, the amount of c.p on his hard drives was so much, the officers were shocked that he would of been a distributor, not a consumer, so how much c.p took up space on those hard drives: terabytes, this is akin to a famous science KZreadr with same amount of c.p

I still have trauma from the Endless Eight and yes, I watched every painstaking episode of the Endless Eight. It got to a point where I was just looking for any perceivable difference in the episodes, like their bathing suits or yukata or perhaps the situation being slightly different or slightly changed dialogue. By the end of it I could feel a genuine sense of insanity creeping into my mind. I would even start remarking to myself about which bathing suit or yukata looked better on the girls.

No it didnt end anything, biggest anime of its airing season? Debatable, people were watching plenty of things back then and with the assbackwards airing order at the time, many found it frustrating. In conclusion, re-title the video "cock and ball torture"

Met the VA for kentaro at a con nearly 20 years ago. Got his autograph and drawing on my boxing glove.(Was cosplaying as Afro Luffy at the time) It's a silly drawing of kentaro that says " Don't waste electricity" Doug Smith.

This anime has shaped a generation, sadly it’s a generation that was at its prime before the anime boom of the mid 2010s. It was a smaller and more niche ya know? Along with the Host Club anime, Naruto, Bleach, Gundam Wing, and that ending song from Inuyasha that played at 5:55 am. Times when fillers and spin offs made up more than half of an anime’s run time. Now most of the weebs from that era have either grown up or have just wandered around the internet speaking of the legends of old. The legend of Haruhi.

To tell the truth, apart from the author's inconsistency, the guy stopped putting effort into his novel because of the long time from one volume to the next, at that time I looked for the last volume and found it translated, they put in very unnecessary things ( haruhi crucified by Asahina's brother who traveled from the future) left an open ending, very very open and left many things untold and unexplained. The truth is that the novel has no future and before it rotted because of the author and the editor Kadokawa put it in stasis to continue making money from it.

For me, the disappearance arc was a great ending to the series. nice and open-ended. everything afterwards felt like the formula was changed imo.

GoHS anime is something of a bittersweet topic to me on a very personal level. The anime had debuted here in the states around the time that my closest friend was battling cancer. After fighting for nearly a year (during a worldwide pandemic no less) his condition got far worse. At the same time, I too was mentally reaching a breaking point, trying to keep my composure to appear collected, positive and stupidly not giving up hope, while visiting him everyday at the hospital, often sleeping nights there because he feared being alone when the time comes. After leaving the hospital from a visit, I decided to stop by my cousins (his place was very close to the hospital) to let off steam and I didn't want to be alone in my own place. I was so mentally drained and broken from the entire situation. Seeing one of the closest human beings in life since I was a pre-teen... falling apart in front of me day in and day out for nearly 2 weeks straight was the most devastating thing i have ever experienced. Of course my cousin being my cousin trying help his own way, opened his liquor rack and kept pouring em out for me to relax, while we watched Crunchyroll and this new show that was streaming. Most of the show was bit of a blur tbh, aside from the amazing opening theme, fight scenes and pacing that made little to no sense on the few instances I tried to divert away from the hard realities of what was going on. I had drank so much throughout the show that I was knocking out, but just as I was about to, I vividly remember opening my eyes for a moment and hearing Mori mentioning to someone who was inside the fightcage with him, something about fighting, and doing what he does for his friends. At moment I broke down in tears. Woke up the next moring lying on the couch and went straight to the hospital. I've never attempted to rewatch or finish it since.
