This was part of carefully organised masterclasses with hereditary teachers and their apprentices. There is a documentary in the making that includes a properly filmed version of the varnam, showcasing both the teaching and the performance. This video is for educational purposes, to help understand how to vocalise the song. Pay special attention to the anupallavi and how “modi” should, or rather should not, be emphasised. In context, it makes all the difference in the Abhinaya.

My sister said that this sounds like the kalakshetra choreo. Is this the same one or pandanainallur choreo
@sathirdance24 күн бұрын
The choreography of this jathiswaram is by Pandanainallur Meenakshisundaram Pillai (1869-1954). There are several versions by Pandanainallur/Tanjore nattuvanars of the 20th century that have slight differences mainly in the final part of the last korvai. When it comes to the initial margams there is no such thing as “Kalakshetra choreo” - it all came from nattuvanar dance masters.
