  Some people like the debris going in the bed to help feed the bed... in 2 days it will blend in anyways, people this picky about their yards deserve to do it themselves because its not like they are paying a premium for the extra anyways...

  that's why I painted directional arrows on my trimmer to know which way the off fall was being thrown - either towards or away from the operator

  That only works if you are standing on the lawn. If you are standing on the sidewalk, you need to go left to right. Otherwise your mess will be on the sidewalk.
