Thanks for listening!
Oh... You don't curse.... Lame.
Lame? You ARE Gen X. Nice.
i fully forgot about this movie
So entertaining.
The picture of a karen holding a knife is probably scarier than any movie every made .. 😱
That funky Al Gore Rhythm brought you guys to my feed. How on earth do you have single digit hit counts on your podcast?! We Gen Xers are always tragically overlooked.
Always. Gen X is a tough audience to do ANYTHING.
Great episode! I read a collection of interviews with Charles M. Shultz here's a few interesting tidbits I can add: When the syndicate changed the name of his strip to Peanuts, Shultz hated the name and agreed to change it with extreme reluctance. After hearing the music selected for A Charlie Brown Christmas, Shultz thought the jazz soundtrack composed by Vince Guaraldi was completely wrong for the special. The book Happiness is a Warm Puppy is a collection of single panels and inspirational phrases which broke sales records and is regarded as the very first "gift book." It was one of the first books that sold well in numerous places other than bookstores. Single panel images of Peanuts characters were soon seen everywhere as the vast Peanuts merchandising empire grew, which again, initially faced much reluctance from Shultz, who rejected more licenses than he approved.
Fascinating! Thank you for listening. :)
this was one of the many films i got to see post star wars when all the British tv channels showed just about every scifi movie ever made to cash in. one thing rollerball gave me was a love of classical music
have you guys seen Phase IV ?
No, we have not.
@@thegenxfiles directed by graphic designer saul bass, most famous for his title sequences in many movies, as well as the designer of some of the most famous logos in the world
@@somthingbrutal Saul Bass is amazing. I’ll check it out!
i love the opening music with their unusual version of Beethoven's 7th unfortunately i have never found a full recording of it :(
$200 dollars a week in rent might be a tad excessive lol you could buy a house for £5000 back then
i find the costumes reminiscent of Ancient Egypt and could be said to play into their view of themselves as gods
Good catch. We would agree.
some of the extras also turn up in Excalibur as peasants
Hell Drivers is worth a watch, another must see Connery movie is The Man Who Would Be King
Have not seen Hell Drivers. The Man Who Would Be King is fantastic.
the troubles was as much about nationality as religion in the simplest terms the NI catholics generally wanted to be part of the Republic of Ireland, while the protestants think of themselves as british. it also ties into the growing civil rights movement of the times.
the Eternal's got the Brutals too grow wheat for them after the explosion in the numbers of Apathetic's meant they could no longer grow enough food for themselves
I loved THE WIZ ! I Thought the concept of making OZ urban and modern from a city perspective was awesome. I felt Diana Ross was Brilliant as Dorothy and the entire film was fantastic. Most of the growth and story understanding is in the lyrics of the songs. Futhermore nobody complains about the stars of GREASE in their 30s playing teens so who cares. THE WIZ is beloved by many especially in the Black community, and The Wizard of OZ sucked ass in my opinion actually. The Wiz is a MILLION times better no matter what anyone says. The Wiz has more emotion and heart. Diana's Dorothy really built her friends up and Judy Garland was selfish and uncaring. The Wiz is Lavish and Chic. Diana Ross did an amazing job !
wonderful. Easy video ranking > "PromoSM".
I need to watch this again 😆
Double feature with ‘One Crazy Summer’!
Hey this comment is about the lethal weapon episode… a side note about the movie I found interesting. When watching the scene where Riggs buys the Christmas tree attempting to also make a cocaine deal the guy in the red and black flannel looked familiar for some reason. Come to find out that guy is Anthony Kiedis dad. Just a side deep dive I guess
I had no idea. That’s awesome!
