    The Esee 6 has always been my dream knife which I finally got recently. I just don't get how anyone could complain about the sheath, I think it's a great sheath so why am I going to waste money to get one made when this one works just fine?? People always complain about the sheath, it's always the sheath. I don't know what happened to OKC but I'm definitely going to buy the RTAKII 125th anniversary edition to compliment my Esee 6 out in the woods.

    I know this is an older video but I hope you respond, does carbide tear out happen with m4 I have a manix 2 that was real sharp and I kept it nice for a year or so but lately I’ve been struggling

    I got one I love it. Was waiting for the right steel for a para 3 and this is it. Cruwear holds a fine edge for so long and then the working edge dulls quickly. For a small EDC knife I prefer a long lasting razors edge and then I sharpen anyway. It's such a great, comfortable in hand, all around knife.

    The difference in the two may be the grinds, if the hollow m4 was flat ground they may be almost exactly the same

    Cruwear is amoung my fav steels to Sharpen. It's really really lovely on the stones when it's done well, the keenness that a fresh edge has is absolutely amazing with cruwear. As you said "it's a sharpeners steel" it isn't picky on edge finish and it does great at very low angles. I really love sharpening cruwear.

    How has your edge held up over a while? I bought a pm2 2 weeks ago. It’s complete junk. The edge rolled twice. I was able to fix it by stropping, tells me it’s soft. And has a chip. I have only cut open boxes at work and one time, cut weedeater string.

    I won't be cutting any cardboard but I will be opening fertilizer bags, cutting bands on pallets of bricks, cutting zip ties, reaming pvc pipe, and whatever other mundane cutting tasks my job requires. I've already ordered a PM2 in S45VN so I really hope it holds up.

    It doesn’t keep them away 😂 my experience with them is there’s at least 2 pricks that take customer service calls and emails. I’ve never spoken with someone there (once at least was the owner I can’t remember his name) that didn’t start with a smart ass reply and end with them being super defensive. But I still buy from them if they have something I want. Including this exact knife. They’re pretty horrible people, but I like knives and don’t care really because I can give it back as good as they can 😂

    I carried an Osborne with s90v exclusively for about 4 years and never had any issues with chipping. I carried a Spyderco “blurple” s110v and it chipped within the first few weeks, then again when I tried to sharpen out the chip.

    its not the size of the abrasive, it's what you're doing with it. I don't even use diamond slurry anywhere near that fine and I can my steels to whittle or cut hair. 20+ um, 6 um, 3 um, 2 um, doesn't matter. These two steels are vastly different to sharpen. zdp is fine with regular waterstones. hap40 you have to grit down, or better off just using diamond. Or at least silicon carbide. I often use SIC for both. Shapton pro 220 or 320 and a king neo 800. but the zdp189 I can polish like say 10k chosera or 12k shapton pro and it's good to go. The hap40 I would strop on something like 6 um diamond at least, if not courser, then finish on something like 3 um or 2 um. zdp is much easier to sharpen and much easier to get to a very high keenness. It also holds the edge maybe 20% better and even more for the fine edge. The fine edge holding on hap40 isn't great. For kitchen knives hap40 makes basically zero sense over R2/SG2. The extra hardness means nothing, it's harder to sharpen and it doesn't stay sharp any longer than R2/SG2 does. It's also not stainless and at very high hardness like the 68 rc sukenari it readily rusts. I have another one from cktg that's 65 rc doesn't rust anything like the 68 rc sukenari.

    Great video! If m4 has better edge retention and toughness then is there any reason to choose rex45? Sounds like m4 is just better, no?

  • @jimmycricket7946
    @jimmycricket79464 ай бұрын

    Rex45 has better edge stability. You can take that to the bank!!! It's a tougher steel. It's also Heat treated much higher. I think spyderco typically runs it 66-67 as far as I know. I like m4 but I think rex45 has it beat.

    My first experience with Cruwear was a purple DLT para 3 which was sharp out of the box,i refined the edge on the sharpmaker brown and fine rods (15dps) at which point it was hair whittling/splitting sharp,i continued refinement on the ultra fine rods and after that i could cut free hanging hair tip to root and root to tip,as Michael says it is a sharpeners steel😁👍

  • @SpareSpacesuit
    @SpareSpacesuit6 ай бұрын

    How long would the para 3 last before its too thick behind the edge? looks like 10-12 sharpenings? then is it useless?
