    I think the biggest problem is having to replace them most people I have looked into claim their tires only last 7 to 10,000 miles in your video. You argue that the price is not about $20 difference that may be the case but if I can get a car tire to last me 30,000 miles of 10,000 miles with the motorcycle tire For the same price I’m still gonna be more to go with the tire that’s gonna last a lot longer as I’m sure many people have pointed out motorcycle tires are on motorcycles because they lean and they are designed to run while leaning a spider doesn’t lean

    @jacoblynch9862 Thanks for the comment and watching! I was hoping that this video would help more in understanding the wording on the tire and help others be better prepared when purchasing their next one. A lot of people just rely on getting the same thing they have because they don't know better. I do wish there was more motorcycle rated tires to choose from for the Spyder than what there is. Me personally, I would never put a car tire on anything motorcycle but do understand why others do to save a few dollars.

    What a terrible system an oil filter and reservoir that isn't changed every time you change the oil is INSANE. the manual says it takes an additional .2 liter of oil when changing the HCM filter - that is .2 liter of DIRTY oil. Extremely poor engineering. but it is expensive. The new to me Spyder has 32,000 miles so I'll change it now and at the recommended intervals.

  • @MOABMAN

  • @MOABMAN
    @MOABMAN10 күн бұрын

    You are definitely having electrical issues. Just on what you said it could be several things. Please take it to a can am dealer so they can hook it up to a computer. That will actually be the cheapest start for trouble shooting. It could be something as simple as a bad ground wire on the chassis to a bad key or ECU. If someone just worked on it and removed a ground that could cause these issues. I am hoping it will be a cheap fix for you!! The way you describe it acting sounds like a chassis grounding issue but not sure.

    In this situation referring to a Spyder as a motorcycle gives the wrong train of thought. A motorcycle (two wheels) requires a tyre that allows you to lean through corners so needs a tyre that has a rounded profile. A Spyder, although referred to as a motorcycle in some countries, is more like a car. Cornering is flat on three contact points thereby car tyres are usable. I would recommend using a tyre with a 'H' or 'V' speed rating. I own a 2011 RS and I run; front - GT Radial Champiro VP 165/65R14 68H, and rear - Kumho Ecsta V70A 225/50R15 91W. This combination works well for my style of riding. Yes, the book does say to use a MC tyre (special motorcycle type) of which has a more square (flat) car tyre profile, being that of the Kenda tyre (which is used by Can-am on all models), and has a faster wear rate. Oh this is from New Zealand.

    @hughwelsh201 Thank you for the comments and pretty cool to get one from New Zealand!!!! I have loved getting the comments from this video. I knew going into it that it is such a touchy subject with everyone. I do have to say that I am always amazed at how many people put car tires on a regular 2 wheel motorcycles though, i never could mentally. My main goal of the video was not to say do or don't but to supply knowledge of the ratings, numbering system, and info that is on the tire so someone would have a better understanding of what to buy for their needs or wants. I hope it helps someone. Thank you for including what you ride on as well!

    @MOABMAN15 күн бұрын

    @davidbergewaytogo Thank you for that and glad you liked. My knowledge is for US models only so I hope I give you the correct info. The connectors that you are asking about are called JST-SM. They are all called the same but you just need to add whether it is 2 pin (2P), 3 pin (3P), etc. The pin refers to how many wires the connector is for. I also want to mention that there are other connectors that are called automotive waterproof connectors. These usually have a rubber type gasket on them. Hope this is what you needed to know!!

    I like it.. after trying all those techniques. I settled for backing upon the ramps. I have a largish U shape between the front and rear ramp. 2 24inx12 in shelf boards behind each front ramp, a 1x4 spanning the space between the rear tails of the shelf stock. the rear ramp front (ramp) edge nested against the 1x4. this tends to lock the 3 ramps together so the rear wheel spin will not shoot the rear ramp under the frame. that's a bit messy. In this application we have to be backing as there is no room under the frame for the center ramp., And yes that lightweight rear wants to spin great video for the masses.

    I've used car tires for years on my Harleys and I have one on my Goldwing and when I purchased my spyder I said why not put one on it too. The price and milage are so much better. A tire doesn't know if it's on a car or a motorcycle. I have never had a problem.

  • @MOABMAN
    @MOABMAN22 күн бұрын

    @kellyspann9845 Thank you for watching and support. When riding 2 wheels I never risked it because of the sidewalls but on a trike I do see why people put them on. There is not the same type of lean that you have on 2 wheels so less risk. I do wish there were more selections of motorcycle tires for the Spyder to choose from.

  • @kellyspann9845
    @kellyspann984521 күн бұрын

    @@MOABMAN There is a different feel and lean when you have one on a motorcycle but it is something you get use to very quick. A motorcycle tire is more rounded and made of a softer compound because you lean a motorcycle in a turn where a car is more flat and why they work better on a Spyder like you said. There is no risk and all it comes down to is do you want to change a tire every 7k or 30k miles or more. They are perfectly safe. I tell people if you don't feel comfortable then just don't do it.

    Now, I lent my 2018 to TommyG and he tried to tell me he needed more space! Can you believe it? We looked like (well, he did lol) the Beverly Hillbillies coming back from Florida...the man had a chain saw on his back seat!! 🤣🤣😅😅

    That probably looked really odd with the chainsaw! Cant say i have ever heard of anyone keeping that on a motorcycle..... Your the first! I guess you would be really prepared if a tree fell across the road though so he must think on a way higher level of preparedness!😂😂😂

    Well, I have an F3...when traveling, my frunk usually contains my rain gear, a flannel, a sweatshirt, a bottle of cleaner and microfiber cloths...oh, and a pair of tennis shoes. I do carry some of those same items you have but in my side bag or trunk...I used to carry a cover but never used it, so I don't even bother now. All those are great things to carry with you. Thank you!

    Good to see this video. I also have a small air compressor in my frunk. Oops forgot F3 Limited. I keep a variation of what you have in your drunk. Similar with the wipes and towels but add disposable gloves. I haven’t figured out my necessary tools but working on it. Thanks for posting this, it gives me more insight than before. Drive safe

    I had car tires on my RT, and they rode great for over 20k miles. When my F3t tires need changing, it will get car tires.

    j7st bought my 2024 F3 t. 219 miles and it is already back at the motorcycle shop for a major computer problem...showing "Transmission Fault" error.. now the emergency brake won't engage and the techs are telling me the computer won't let them get a diagnostic... they have to call BRP for support on the issue.. strike 1.

    I am so sorry to hear that. I hope you dont mind the help/opinion that im about to give. Since that is so new i would demand a different one from dealer. That is too much all at once and may always cause problems later on. I would look up "Lemon Law" for motorcycles and your state. To my understanding "Lemon Law" should tell you how long you have after purchasing a new vehicle to return it and get full refund or exchange of equal value. I believe you should fall under some of the requirements. Now I am not a lawyer and please dont think this as legal advice. I know of this law through my own experiences and knowledge. It is a law that helps protect us from sales like this. There is a certain amount of time that this allows to be claimed though (i think roughly 30 days in some states,) so if you go this route be quick. I hope this helps and I hope that you get a different Spyder all together. I would not want this to happen to me and feel for you!
