I saw Joe and Rose Lee in Branson as a teenager at the Grandpa Jones theater, WOW what a show. This guy was a power house with a stringed instrument.

I turn 69 this week and I'm feeling stuck in the past. I was a mid-life crisis baby. My Dad and I walked every night after dinner. Holding swinging hands and singing this and others from that era. Through the miracle the internet I get to hear it AND read the real lyrics. Not just the few I can still remember. Lol😊

Anyone know who the bass guitar player is? I'm using to seeing Chris Scruggs holding down the low end.

Charlie Daniels, pure country gold wrapped in one of the kindest most humble good ol boys, that man could pick like the wind blows. This show has become an archive of the best country music and bluegrass, bless you Marty and that Fantastic band for being and staying country.

This and his Vee Jay recording of Lucille are better than the originals in my opinion - they're wilder! I love the drums on this one (that boogaloo rhythm in the breaks, and the double snare beat the drummer does before the band comes back in) and the fuller, more inventive horn section arrangement. With Lucile, it's the big horn section blasting out at the end of the choruses (and repeats at he very end) along with the drummer going berserk on the fade-out that makes it sound fabulous. Love 'em both!

recorded 1960 at a tv station in SLC, "sleigh bell rock" was intended to be a hit at christmas and "booze party" a hit at new years. 150 copies pressed and sold at Hill AFB Utah and the airmen who bought those 150 records scattered them around the world making this a very difficult record to find today. the dark maroon paper used for the label is not available at this time meaning all the slick label more reddish looking ones are boots.
