I really liked the slower pace. In this way, it is easier to take in the beauty and inimitable atmosphere of the streets of Paris. Thanks for the great pictures! Greetings from Hungary!

36:18 : this is only one half of the river Seine. On the other side it is Saint Louis island, with beautiful aristocratic houses from the 17th and 18th centuries.

30:02 : this building with the French flag is the headquarter of the Republican Gard. You can see its men from time to time in the streets of Paris on their horses for training or for official occasions. It is impressive : the horses are very well kept, the costumes are brillant and the military orpheon is excellent.

26:14 : this column in the center of Place de la Bastille is a symbol of the 1830 revolution which lasted three days called Les Trois Glorieuses (the three glorious days). Some of the revolutionnaries killed during its repression are buried under this column. On the top of it there is a golden statue symbolizing the liberty : a naked athlete holding in one hand a broken chain and in the other a torch. In the pavement of the square some stones of a reddish hue draw the contours of no more existing Bastille fortress, which was a prison in the royal era and which conquest by the riotting people of Paris marked the beginning of the French Revolution, on the 14th of July 1789.

16:56 : this is the beginning of Arsenal area. The arsenals (a name of arabic origin : dâr al-sinâ'a) were the place arms (canons) were made. The Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal is an historic library in this area.

12:48 this is not a boulevard but a wide canal (named Bassin de l'Arsenal) going to the Place de la Bastille. On it there is the port for leisure boats, it is a marina of a sort... This canal goes further underground till the La Villette area, in the North East of Paris. Touristic boats can get you there (from place to place there are wells which provide fresh air and light).

07:08 : these beautiful trees are plane trees. They have been imported in France from Turkey by a famous scientist, M. de Jussieu, in the 18th century. The first specimen is in the Jardin des Plantes.

5:20 : in front of you the greenery and the metallic fence belong to the Jardin des Plantes, the botanical garden of Paris. It goes back to the 16th century and many plants have been introduced to the continent through it thanks to prestigious explorers and botanists. For instance, you can admire a huge pistacchio tree on which experiments were made which proved (in the 17th century) that plants had a sexual mode of reproduction.

4:40 : in the middle, this column (called colonne Morris, a printer who won the bidding in 1868) is for avertissements, in particular for theater plays, films, concerts and operas. Modern ones have the same shape but rotate slowly (moved by an electric motor).

3:19 : RER (Réseau Express Régional) is a metro for Paris and the suburbs. The lines bear lettres, and not figures. With this C line, you can go to Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame, Musée d'Orsay, Champ-de-Mars/Tour Eiffel, and on one branch to the south to Château de Versailles. Inside Paris the usual metro tickets are available. Keep them : you'll need them to go out !

0:46 : at the other end of Pont Charles de Gaulle you can see the clock-tower of Gare de Lyon. In this huge station for the Southeast of France and Italy there is an historic Art Nouveau restaurant. Its name, Le Train bleu, means The Blue train (films were shot in this superb setting).

Já faz um tempo que a França não vai as ruas lutar contra um governo que a França votou, agora a França mais uma vez vai votar e escolher seu destino, é preciso votar no governo macron ,a extrema direita é extrema e isso não é bom para a França
