    New books recs! Thank you! I feel all of this. I wasted so much money this year on dated planners that didnt work for me. I ended up right back in my b6 slim TN for planning and my Hobo cousin for journaling. Instagram is definitely overwhelming us with choices and i havent been posting as much because of all the chaos its bringing to my life. Im trying to be very intentional from here on out and moving into my purchases for 2025. Good luck to all of us! 🤗🤗

    I saw reviews saying the A5 foundation was heavy and bulky to them. Do you feel the personal size is heavy to carry around with inserts of course? but because leather is usually heavier than vegan ones. I am hesitating between this personal in black or the one from MyRoadMap

  • @TheMinimalSophisticate

    Hey thanks so much for watching. So that planner can get heavy depending on paper weight and also how much you put in the planner.

    I ABSOLUTELY agree about planner hopping because of fomo from Instagram. I know for a fact that simple bullet journaling and bujo spreads work for me but as soon as I get a new ad for a planner, my brain says I have to have it even though I know I wont use it. It's exhausting!

    I am a planner shop on Etsy and I’m about to start educating people on this KZread channel about how paper is by far the most important part of making your own planners via digital planner insert downloads. I’ve been printing my own planners stuff for the past two years My perfect perfect cost-effective but still good quality paperweight is 24 pounds . Of course you don’t want copy paper which is 18 pounds to 20 pounds… Even when I have purchased 22 pound paper it’s still felt too thin therefore, printing on both sides felt like the paper was a tiny bit transparent I typically will still buy 28 pound paper but I will use 28 pound paper to print inserts that I need to last for a very, very long time such as a perpetual Callender that I have to keep for the entire year Anytime I have to print my child’s school calendar. I printed 28 pound paper so it’ll last me all 12 months. But things like a daily insert that I rewrite every day and throw away the old one … I use 24 pound paper

  • @TheMinimalSophisticate

  • @thepossumplanner

    So happy this popped up today- was feeling down with the holiday, but this got my mind off things and kept me on task cleaning up my desk. I'm on the academic calendar, so new year starts July 1 for me. I spent the past few months experimenting with different sizes, but I think the A6 split book common planner is what I'm going with. I love having everything in one book for work. The LD Portriat Planner was tempting, but a bit too big for commuting. Love your book stack, so many good options- spooky season is all year around here lol

    @TheMinimalSophisticateАй бұрын

    @@thepossumplanner Thanks so much for watching. I definitely am so happy to hear that this was able to get your mind off things. I love the idea of having a split book because in the mid year it must feel like you are starting a new book. I do agree that having one planner for work is definitely functional. I am trying to see how this Laurel Denise will work but if it doesn't it doesn't. I'm glad that the Hobonichi still has remained constant for me and it was the one I said I wouldn't get in the beginning of the year, lol. It's great to have new planners that can inspire us. I hope you are feeling better and have a great rest of the week.

    I’m so sorry for the winded comment ahead of time, however… I was binge watching since found ur channel tonite. N I’m so curious, if u get a minute to enlighten me or want to, lol I found myself caregiving for my mother after her C-19 episode, she went from active to bedridden to semi moving around since 2021. Living with me now, diabetic, blood clots, now new kidney issues, etc. I found that being digital while on phone with drs / providers along with going into office visits isn’t ideal to pull out phone n give or note info especially if drs think ur texting or not paying attention, kinda rude. Anyway my question is. Do you have a separate set up for the things you keep track of for your parents? I started out with pocket tn but I switched to personal rings so I can make her a binder with sections for history, meds, appts, specialist, etc. just wondering if you have a different easier method.

    I wanted to take a quick second to tell you. That I have been so overwhelmed trying to find the best fit for me n my situation. I have DIY’d everything from a 11 disc bound to a micro, tn, rings, disc, composition books, school binders, etc. I found myself thrown into a situation that I was forced to go from being a digital nerd to having paper in hand for care taking of my mom almost overnight. So I sooooo understand the “testing waters” of other options. I think I will forever hop out of boredom lol. I think it’s a situation of… “seasons” I believe in our lives sometimes season change. Doesn’t mean our season “won’t change” just means “it hasn’t changed yet” so no guilt of trying other things when we get bored, u may find one day ur season changes. In the meantime, side note… haven’t tried bound books yet n must say u have sparked my interest to try lol thank you for sharing, so glad I found ur channel. (New sub)

    Yeah I don't use fugitive inks in my hobonichi because I find they're not archival I had a purple ballpoint that I loved but always faded and turned pinkish. I only really use black or blue uni ballpoint and mildliner highlighter. I use it for practical every day things so I don't use my gels in it.

  • @TheMinimalSophisticate

    I completely agree about only using ball point pens because gel pens are a "no" in this planner. I am only going to use my Uni Jet Streams and Mildliners from now on. There is no point in archiving them if the ink changes colors or begins to change.

    I started a Weeks in December, noticed I have at least 45 weeks kits, said to myself “I want to not be wasteful and use it all”, now it’s march and I want to give it up because the stickers have created so many grooves and I dislike it. I also think I should’ve gotten a mega to have enough space for bullet journaling in the back. Then I have a sterling ink b6 (which I love) but I feel like I’m duplicating stuff and force myself to use it but now the weeks has not enough space for listing. So. Oh, I completely get the feeling. I so want to go back to my one bullet journal, but after joining the planner community a few years back and fully accepting my obsession with stationary, it feels impossible 😅 I do have to say, though, that being a planner content creator there are two versions of systems (at least in my case) the one(s) that I truly use and keep at the end of the year and the ones that are more for content creation and that I know will not stay with me a the end of the year. Either way, it is a creative hobby that changes all the time and feeds from different systems. 🫶 I can't wait to see your new weeks. I also got two and can't wait to chat all about them! )

    I love that you shared this. I think as someone who truly loves being in this hobby and community, you do gravitate towards what others use however I also find myself getting pulled back in the same direction I was going in before. So for me, it's really important to find what works. I like that you have one for content creation purposes and wish I had the time for that right now. I also like the fact that I now have everything in one system without having to keep up with separate planners. I can't wait to see what you do with your content and truly agree that this is a creative hobby that does in fact change all the time. Can't wait to chat next time!
