Scrfce123 Actualy, the only change will be the new engines and lower noses, so the new cars will be minimaly slower trough the bends. The only difference will be different sound and a slightly less (or more, no one knows yet) power from the engine.

Don't be surprised if the drivers adapt to the cars ASAP. There's not going to be any lag, so they won't have to anticipate unpredictable characteristics like a sudden onset of boost. All these guys will be doing is using less throttle. I'm 99% certain that the cars will need to be feathered around bends. In fact, these new rules will DEFINITELY make for a duller and much slower paced formula. Its going to be terrible.

however, the 2014 v6 engines are 1.6L and tubo charged. turbo's give engines serious amounts of torque. the 2014 will be totally different to the v8s of today. a totally different formula and really have nothing in common. can't really compare the two. different capacity, different ways of producing power and torque also.
@sultanabran111 жыл бұрын
they didn't go away from v12s cause it was 'too loud'. ferrari moved away from v12 because it was inefficient and they had to carry more fuel. the fia tried to ban v12 to reduce power in the early 90's but ferrari at the time refused. then fia banned it after ferrari went with v10 in 1996. v6 and v12 have some displacement but the frequency in cylinders are firing are much less in a v6, therefore much lower rpm and therefore producing less power.

also, theres this pistonhead's pride that motorsport fans have in cars, generally , the bigger the engine, the more 'high class' the car. Its very embarrasinng for the pinnacle of motorsports to have an engine the same size as that of a honda's. Thats why you never see supercars with less than 3L of displacement. Bigger engines generate more vroom, smoke and are more exciting. Thats the point of motorsports for entertaining the fans.
@ASSHOLELA11 жыл бұрын
there are 3 advantages for a bigger engine: first, they run with less stress and thus last longer. second, they put out more power assuming equal parameters third, output is smoother and less dependent on revs.

If they can come up with a way to make your 6 Litre Engine weigh up and use less fuel then a 1.5Litre V10 that only runs all cylinders at full throttle then be my guest mate
@GlennSpeed5011 жыл бұрын
they shouldn't go to 4 cylinders tho or really 6. The rule should be for no less then eight to ten cylinders and up because thats Formula 1. People need to realize that they can still make small efficient engines with many cylinders successfully, thats half the challenge. It should be no less then eight and i think everyone (im talking in their business) can agree on that together.
@GlennSpeed5011 жыл бұрын
you dont know what your talking about mate, they dont need a massive donk in these small cars especially with the amount of fuel it would use even tho it could be quite exciting none the less

F1 needs a PROPER V10 engine with 6 or more litres. 1.5L is practically a sedan engine.

The V8s are limited to 18,000 RPM. These V6's will be limited to 15,000. The current season exhaust regulations have banned blending exhaust gases with diffuser flow. As a result, the cars actually sound great again. Putting a turbo behind the headers will muffle the car and make it sound exactly like this, if not worse. The 2014 cars will sound like shit! Like DW-12 Chev Indy car.

They wont sound like this vid. I also think that the V10s were something out of this world. Now the freezed and rev-limited V8s sound awful. Like giants and annoying mosquitos. So anything is better than what we have now. We must accept that turbos are the way to go. Naturally aspirated engines are a thing of the past if we're talking about optimum efficiency.
