Verna

Hey you!

My name is Verna, and I make videos all about micro locs. I had traditional locs for 6 years and big chopped back in October 2022. I started my DIY micro locs on September 29, 2023 and thought it would be a great idea to document the journey.

Subscribe for fine low density micro loc content! 🫶🏽

Me too. Traction alopecia on top of thin edges from birth and two different hair textures. My goal is microlocs. I started two strand twists with extensions until my hair grows out. I'll keep cutting then down until it's all my natural hair. Thanks for the video. I'll be here, Sis. 😊

Bleaching is always a problem you may not see it now but somewhere song the line, it will show. I lighten my ends years ago & trust me those ends are now breaking away not drastically but it’s enough to make me not want to do that again. Do I put a chest nut brown on instead and I love it. If your going to colour your hair stuck to the semi permanent so you don’t cause damage, btw locs looking great 👍🏾

Nice locs! I love how we can get rid of locs and start over again if we like. I’m on my 2nd set after cutting my 3 yr bleached to death locs off last Aug. Wore my hair in weaves, wigs and braids for a few months. But decided hiding my hair with fake stuff just not for me anymore. So i am back in the loc game. There is another KZread channel where the lady explains how to get the look you want based on different density/thickness/thinness of hair. So I understand too how to get the look I want. Congrats to you!

But so glad to hear your back on the loc journey its the best 🤗 and wow thank you for sharing that information i’m gonna look for it. It’s definitely a struggle when you want your hair to have at least the illusion of thickness. Good luck to you on your journey!

@mygirlv oh I've just watched the video you link in your description. Your method of starting loc might be why they mature so fast. From the looks of the video your locs look well maintained, rounded and no bumps or lumps and not too much frizz. I started locs 2 months ago with the inter locking method.

All hair is made of same protein. I use inexspensive shampoo for Caucasian hair they only £2 (2$) a bottle & I’ve saved so much money! Try Herbal Essence daily detox shampoo cleans locs extremely well but does not strip it so it feels crunchy & it’s a clear shampoo that leaves zero residue. Once every few months I’ll use conditioner watered down as a treat, more to make me feel good as hair doesn’t need it. If you have TRESSEME products in USA then an alternative is their Replenish & Cleanse shampoo with green label. Like that too. But seriously no need for special shampoos geared for Afro hair when it’s loc’d just one that cleans it is needed. ☺️🇬🇧

Your welcome, if it’s not the ones I mentioned I hope you find a brand that works for you . Stick to clear shampoos to minimise buildup of products & I water mines down slightly too as it’s easier to apply through locs especially when they get fuller or longer .
