Great drone shots.
Brilliant, as always.
Sound, scenery and SAR steam. Thank you so much for sharing such special moments.
Thank you, they were good times!
Just two weeks into the 21st century
And it was good!
I was a senior fieman for Fred Vermaak ( P E)
Wow, I wish I could have worked on that line.
Good old day i was a fieman in 1971 to1986
Very nice.
Was een fan die stoompassers op die transkaroo ek staan bekent onder die bynaam poffie

She’s going tjoef fast, I wish we still had working Class 24s in the Durban area.
They are a fantastic loco!
When is tunnel going to be useable again Is it trackwork or the brickwotk thats the trouble
Not sure mate, I wasn't aware that the tunnel was out of service.
how do the front and rear engine communicate? great video
Thanks! Mostly by whistle codes.
Oaklands Grain..
Not this train, but the grains are mostly what runs here.
Any idea what the issue is with the Boosey Creek Bridge - decking etc showing its age I guess?
The Weekly Notice says it's a track stability issue on the bridge, scheduled for repair later in the year.
Why even bother measuring that line? We all know it's f@#$%d!!
Amazing footage and quality KZread, great channel, subbed!
Thanks!
What a locomotive. Like a horse on rails
A mountain climber for sure!
I wish I could have done this
😕 I wish I could do it again!
A American-Built 4-6-2 “Pacific” in the country of Africa. It’s quite cool to know that it was built all the way from my home country United States of America and shipped towards the South African Railway here. South African Railway 860 is one of my favorite African Steam Locomotives.
That are such a well-proportioned loco work a great bark! A brilliant Baldwin product.
Oh, it was in Bethlehem Free State
Beautiful place, those must have been good days!
Yes, wonderful video. I started in 1973 as a fireman, and this locomotive was there. All the 25 NC locomotives started from 3401 upto 3422. The driver who worked this 3422 regularly was Hannes Greef, a big guy, wonderful guy. Engin I fired was 3417 with driver Flip Marx, wonderful days. Hard work but worth it.
I used to see 3422 on the Trans Karoo in later years, and 3417 in the Cape as an oil burner before she threw a rod.
Great video. Really sad to see 3664 deteriorating out in the open nowadays. Hope Wonder Steam restores her one day..
I don't think she'll be restored as they have cut big holes in her boiler 😕
@@steamfreak Yeah, I visited the WST depot and can confirm it's true. However, I have been told by volunteers that she is actually being turned into an educational display to show all the inner workings of a steam locomotive, and they plan to display her in the centre of the Depot.
OK, then I hope she can run again one day with a new boiler.
Beatiful whistle
Thank you!

Hello Traver, Thank you for recording precious moments about Chengde Steelwork Branch. I am a rail-fan in Chengde, China. I am very appreciated your work. Could I use this video as a part of my film of "Beijing-Chengde" Railway? I would enclose the original KZread link while writing your name in my film. Best wishes, SkyUniverse
Yes, sure. I'd like to see your video when it's done!
@@steamfreak OK, I'll tell you when it's done.

Steam locomotives are fantastic, but when you see the double headers it's incredible. Thanks very much for sharing this fantastic footage. Sound is brilliant 👍👌👏🤗
Thanks! Yes Lootsberg is an incredible piece of railway.
Thank you very much for the video. What do they mine there?
They mined copper and zinc there. I believe the mine is now closed.
That wistle was amazing
It was! Such a great trip.
Why do these locos steam much more than the ones in zim
It was a freezing morning, giving lovely clouds of white steam.
Do you know what has happened to them
didnt know the Red Devil Steam is fast than cheetah (130/80 speed)
But not faster than a blue duck...
@@steamfreak then how is gonna blue duck pass it
@@aalcomtive The blue duck named Mallard...
It is a great video with some spectacular camera work, especially at the end.
Thanks! It was amazing to see.
Got to agree with previous posts about the incredible footage and the sound. Makes for a good watch 👍👌😊 brilliant to see the double header
Thanks! Was a great trip with those big locos.
So many bends and the track so rough! So slow!
Yep, not the best for a trunk route!
Brings back memories of growing up in Bulawayo in the 80's... Thank you for posting
Good days of steam!
How did they get to Albury ?
They came down the previous day on the XPT from Sydney. Private cars I believe.
Nice. SRHC?
Yes indeed.

Nothing but white Steam from the Queen of all the Queens...
Just glorious! Yes it was pretty chilly good for the steam effects.
good old RR
It was certainly a great railway back in the day.
Lekker
Dankie!

Engineer, awesome! The inspiration helped the whole world, which is family. Thru another REVOLUTION
It did indeed
❤😊 I love this South Africa steam train 🚂 cab ride video can you make another South Africa steam train cab ride for coasterfan2105 Mike Armstrong for me please 🎉
I wish I could take another cab ride in SA.
Terrific video. I drove the road parallel to this line recently and went through Ashton. The line is very scenic, however appears to be closed now?
I believe it is still open. NCCR are operating steam excursions down that way.
Bit easier to chase on this line these days 😅
Yeah, you could almost walk it these days, and still get the shots. 🤣
I don’t understand the steam engine for the trains. Even if this video is 22 years old
China was using steam locomotives in everyday service until just a few years ago.
At 5:14 are those open hearth scrap buggies?
I'm not actually sure what they are?
I’ve always loved and remember 5910 and the awesome steamboat sounding whistle, great video and thanks!
Thanks! That's the only time I ever saw her run. Happily though I've seen 5917 many times since.
True old school power
Full steam Garratt Power... The best!
Great video 😎👍 I've had a fascination with the Cudgewa branch for a few years now and was planning a trip there. Unfortunately my 4x4 has given up the ghost. At least now I now that some of the ild right of way would be accessible for a "road" car. Thanks for your time and effort in putting this on youtube 😀👍
Cheers mate! Yes you can access most of it with a 2WD but gets a bit r rough in parts. Beautiful line.
Thanks as always for sharing this great footage with us all. Much appreciated.
Thanks Simon, glad you enjoyed it!
My dad is there! RIP Vic <3 Legend! Miss you mate
