Hey man ! I own a 1974 Buick Electra 225 Limited here in Australia. Compression is way down from 1970 -8.00 to 1, but it still has enough torque for my enjoyment. The 455 WAS known as a torque monster. Owned my Buick for 5 years and love it ! Great seeing another Buick guy like you mate !

Late to the party, but I was looking at a green 77 regal with a Vinyl roof (dark beige?) and I had 2 questions about it. 1: Is there a way to change the colour or at least whiten the Vinyl? Its a bit miscoloured with the green. 2: The filling behind the rear bumper is gone, why would someone have removed that? Would it be possible to get a replacement? Anyway, that car looks very clean!

I owned a 1970 Buick Electra 225! It was a beast in stock form, but there is greater potential to be had. The Cadillac 472 ci and 500 ci put out 525 lb-ft and 550 lb-ft respectfully, but even those engines have greater potential. If these engines were given the camshaft lobe centerline angle that the engines wanted instead of what they were given from the factory, the performance output potential would've been greater...case in point, the 455 would've produced 637 ft-lbs based on 1.4 ft-lbs/cid professional engine grade build formula output which is significant 😮🤔. The Cadillac 472 using the same formula would've produced 661 ft-lbs...Both figures are based on a naturally aspirated engine. The formula ( from David Vizard ) to determine proper lobe centerline angle is: 132−(455÷8÷2.00×.91) = 106.12° ~=106°. Then you take half the overlap (30° as an example) and add that to your LCA, then double that number and that gives the duration at .006 lift for the cam. Hopefully, this info is understandable. Godspeed and rock those land yachts

New subscriber here. Can't wait to see the Buick after the new paint job. Already a cool classic and hard to find car. With time, the value of the '77 Regal is only increasing. And it is clear that you are certainly not ashamed of putting God first, and loved ones before everything else. We appreciate you, brother in Christ. May the Lord God bless you and your family real good.

Love the 1976 and the 1977 Buick Regal. By the way, the front bumper filler is gray on the black car. Not original. And, above the tail light, it's missing the _'BUICK'_ nameplate on the right side of the trunk... Otherwise 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏾

Even a mid 70s Buick 455 though really down in net horsepower & torque still could move out ok with insane emissions calibrations with cat converter. Delete the cat, open up with true duel exhaust, recurve that HEI for a better faster mechanical curve, either richen up the fuel mixture screws or go further in retweaking jets & rods in the Quadrajet. I cant remember for a year like 1976 but if it still has that TCS switch on the intake that disabled vacuum advance in 1st & 2nd gear, eliminate that. I know on the earlier 70s engines from GM across the line had them ( most ive seen disabled) and was a performance/gas mileage killer. Just a slightly "tuned" lower compression engine

Don't forget that you are comparing a 455 cu. in. to a 500 cu. in. engine . If you bored out the 455 to as close as a 500 - you would be getting the same horsepower and torque numbers as that 500 inch bruiser !
