Thanks, Andrew. What a lovely song! I noticed that sometimes she uses "você" and sometimes she uses "te". Is there any reason or nuance that we should be made aware of fore using both forms together? Obrigado!
Another Great one Thanks so much!!

I'm indian and loved the way you teach
I appreciate it, thank you!!
You are a good teacher. Excellent lesson thank you
Glad you found the lesson helpful, Chris!!
Super helpful thank you! Could you please explain the 'quis' following "sempre" ? 😊
Glad you found it helpful, Stephanie! "quis" is in the past tense (specifically the preterite tense) of the verb "querer" (to want). If you'd like to go more in-depth with how verb conjugations in Portuguese work, you can check out this tutorial: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f52dm7GooLjLgMo.html
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew thank you so much Andrew! I've only stumbled across your channel today so I will be a regular watcher from now on! Muito brigada!
@@stephmaylx obrigado a você and welcome to the channel!!
I really like the way you teach lessons. I hope to speaking soon for my upcoming trip to Rio.
Great to hear that! You'll have a blast in Rio!
I only had two years of Spanish at school. Now I have a Brazilian girlfriend and I'm still stuck on the Spanish pronunciation of some words. But, my girlfriend has to learn German first and I will learn/ pick up Portuguese from her.
This was such a nice and fun lesson to follow along thank you so much. Also quick question the sentence structure change a bit when we are saying "really like" I thought it would direct translate to English " Because I really Like the language" Which I was expecting to be "Porque eu Muito Gosto da lingua" but it is "Porque eu Gosto Muito da Lingua" which in " Because I like really the language" ?
The word order in Portuguese is different from English in this case....the "muito" always follows the verb
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew Thank you so much. Muito Obrigado !
de nada!
First off I'll say that I like your teaching style. It's very clear and concise. Audio and Video is of great quality! My question is, how much is transferrable to European Portuguese? or do you have recommendation for learning this? I like your teaching methods!
Hey Andrew, I appreciate that! In Portugal, people generally have very little problem understanding Brazilian Portuguese since they get so much exposure to it through Brazilian movies, tv shows, music, KZreadrs, etc. So if you learn the Brazilian variety well, you’ll be easily understood in Portugal. Now being able to understand them easily often requires an additional step of learning the main differences in pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary between the two, but there are tons of videos out there about this topic. Ultimately, they’re just two varieties of the same language and for the most part you’d be able to get by just fine in Portugal if you learned Brazilian Portuguese.
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew Thank you for the insite!
Such a Great Video Thank you
So great to hear you enjoyed it!
Learning Brazil Portuguese 3 years now. His explanation is best to date Do you do online classes?
I don't offer classes, but I'll most likely create a course. For now, the Portuguese for beginners videos have been received really well so I'll probably go up to lesson 10.
Wow! This video is a game changer... Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
😂😂😂😂 thanks for clearing this up. I been saying it wrong this whole time💀
hopefully you still got the bread you wanted!
Muito Obrigado !

I like this lesson the sentences are easy to build similar to English. Subject+verb+Object
glad you found it helpful!!
excellent vidieo, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you so much. When I saw you uploaded another one I was so happy. These seriously are the best lessons on KZread. The fact that you are doing it for free is unbelievable. The way you coordinate each lesson to build on one another is so much easier and intuitive to learn, and slowing down with pauses so I have time to give each phrase a shot really helps. Most other videos just spam random phrases that have nothing to do with each other so I can’t even really tell what each individual word is. This method you’ve been adding to your videos is just the best. I actually have faith that I’ll be able to speak with my family in Brazil now, you’re the man! God bless
So happy to hear that the videos are helping you. Yes, there's a reason you don't really see series of videos on KZread that progressively build on one another in a logical, coherent way--creating them is a lot harder than just making a stand alone video. It has to be carefully thought out and it only gets harder the further in the series you get. That said, I think something like this needed to exist on KZread (even if it's a relatively short series), which is why I felt compelled to make it. If the videos continue to perform well, I would love to go up to lesson 10, but for now I will take it one video at a time. Thank you for your comments...they mean a lot to me!
like there are many types of greetings in Brazilian Portuguese
could you do a video lesson about how to greet and how to answer greetings in Brazilian Portuguese? other greetings of how are you and how to respond that in Brazilian Portuguese
Honestly, all you really need to know is "Tudo bem/bom?". And people often will just respond with "Tudo bem/bom". But here are two videos that should help you: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gWuFqtWhqrPfYqg.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJZ4ppdyirDMgrA.html
sim, I'm familiar with tudo bem/bom, but what should be answered to that Fala meu rei beleza? Como é que cê tá beleza?
@@user-fo1le6je8v honestly people will often just respond with “Tudo bem/bom?” to any greeting….my philosophy is to just keep it simple, especially in the beginning. You don’t need to know 10 different greetings when you’re just starting out….”Tudo bem” is just fine
valeu sem problemas.
Currently having brasiliero Portugûes overload all day at work today thanks to your videos, if you please inform me on the order in which to study your videos so the memorization comes on easier I'd appreciate it
just follow the beginner's playlist. It starts with pronunciation and then goes into the lessons 1-4. Each lesson is meant to be repeated 3-5 times before moving onto the next. You don't want to rush onto the next lesson before you've got a solid grip on the current one. Otherwise it'll be a major brain overload and things won't stick. kzread.info/head/PLS2n39P9SS59z6E3tSSVsuQpzdn2xh30V
I've watched your one through four videos on beginning Brazilian Portuguese and then I came across this video and although I slightly grasp The lesson all of the conjugations tend to start confusing me I think I need to slow down a bit or do you suggest just continue to rewatch the video over and over again. Maybe use some index cards to help me remember?
This video is meant more to give you a big picture understanding of how the verb system works. Yes, it is a lot of info compressed in one video so I wouldn't try to memorize everything. It'll make more sense once you have more Portuguese under your belt--but for now, I'd just use it as reference when you get curious about how something works, rather than deliberately memorizing the conjugations. Just work through my Portuguese for beginners series over and over until you know it like the back of your hand. I'll probably do another 6 videos in the series (I've done 4 lessons so far, so I'll have 10 total). Do each lesson 3-5 times and don't worry about memorizing any rules.
Bro can we please get more lessons I'm enjoying this very much
Appreciate the feedback Eric! Glad to hear you're enjoying the videos!
Eu sempre quis aprender português. Obrigado você brabo 👌
Que bom!!! você vai aprender rapidinho!
Just finished the first lesson, I've been married to a Brazilian for 14 years and understand a bit but never able to speak it these lessons truly help

I appreciate it, glad you enjoyed it!
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew ps: I’m very much guilty of making direct translations in English I know that i should not but it’s hard to shake off) question I have using a simple example “can I have a beer, please” is the correct way to ask a waiter “eu quero uma cerveja por favor” ie I want a beer please or “posso ter uma cerveja por favor” ie can I have a beer please?
The best translation for "Can I have....please?" would be "Me vê.....por favor?" I talk about it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fZaTkpiAXZPNcco.html
This is a case where the word-for-word translation "Posso ter....?" would not work. I actually made a short about it: kzread.infoX8h-vP8MQ3I?feature=share
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew thanks you will definitely check it out 👍🏻
thanks a lot

Yayy lesson 4😊! Thank youuuuuuuu :))
You got it! :)
Andrew thanks once again. Great lesson and those pauses in between are perfect as they evoke your thinking and help you to go ahead. Thank you once.
Thank you , I appreciate it!!
brilhante, um novo vídeo:)
obrigado James!!!
Thanks for the lesson. You are helping me learn Portuguese. Do you plan to create a course?
Most likely...right now I'm just trying to provide as much free value as possible first
Eu quero comment that keep this going por favor, I know not so many people have discovered this channel agora, mas você é muito bom e help me muito muito com meu português
muito obrigado!! que bom que você gostou!
I love it !
Glad to hear that Eddie!
Quem começa... começa a... Quem assiste... assiste a... Quem se lembra... lembra-de... Quem se esquece... esquece de... E por aí vai...😊
It's interesting that in the "linguagem coloquial," the tendency is to say... Esse filme (with "i" on the end). In short, most Brazilians would say... Ele e ela (Êle i éla) Three "e" sounds!
👍
