  When in a relationship, it is very easy to call it off over small arguments, because you kind of know that nothing is at stake. Many people break up with their boyfriends and girlfriends over petty ego battles and that is the harsh reality of today. The same arguments happen in marriages also, but people have higher patience barriers there. They will maybe not talk for 2-3 days, but then eventually resolve issues amicably.
