    I have a 2021 Encore GX with the 1.3L and love it. It's FWD, so it has the CVT, which is actually not a bad unit and pairs well with the engine. It probably helps that the CVT is chain-driven and doesn't use a steel belt like the ones in Nissans.

    A small suggestion- do not make a 4-minute introduction unless you introduce a vehicle that has a lot of history behind it or a vehicle that is anticipated by many people. Furthermore, keep it interesting and make the video short so that people do not lose interest and move away from watching your video. All the best!

    A couple of minor quips - the 05-06 came with 175 horsepower and 180 torque (you flip those numbers in your review) in the 2.5, and they did offer a v6 model since 2002 (SE and SL) that came with a 3.5 L engine and 250 (02-04) to 255 (05-06) horsepower. The SE-R bumped that up to 260 horsepower along with extra torque, and a hefty increase in price ($23-26k for SE / SL --> $30K+ for SE-R) and the other goodies your review. 😄 I always wanted one when I couldn't afford it and didn't want one (a few years later when they were only in the used market) when I could. So I ended up with an '09 Altima coupe 3.5 SE V6. 270hp standard for the V6 models (07 onward) heh.

    The SER is a unique find. I'm an original owner of an 2006 Altima SER from Mossy Nissan in San Diego. I'm currently at 215K miles on the original transmission, engine, and timing chain. The car has needed a few repairs over the years. Mostly maintenance stuff. Valve cover gaskets, shocks/struts, plugs, radiator, power steering high pressure hose, a coolant hose, engine mounts, etc. The biggest glitch with the VQ35 engine of this era is the timing chain guides will eventually slip and the engine will need a timing chain service ($expensive$). You'll hear a whine on startup. My car has that whine and I'll be doing the service soon. (For DIY'ers you can find videos online showing how to do the project. Search for Maximas.) Despite that... My car will still get up--and--go.... Varoom!

    I'm the original owner of a 2006 SER/auto . The car has 215K miles and the tranny still shifts well, but is a little slower on the manual shifts. I've had it regularly serviced at 30k intervals. At 180K I started fluid exchange only. No transmission flush as that can dislodge clutch debris in the system and lead to overall failure. More important is that the car you buy has had the timing chain serviced. The guides and chain should be replaced as this is a failure point and subject to a recall / court ordered settlement.

I’m not sure if I should replace the timing chains. Reason being, I’ll have to take it somewhere I am definitely not that advanced to replace. Thoughts?

  • @mknucarman
    @mknucarman3 жыл бұрын

    @@bobespnza-la7030 the reason mine were done is that I had a whining noise and thought it was the Trans again ( replaced under warranty at 61000 miles ( I had a nissan extended warranty). If yours has a whining it’s probably the chain guides which are Teflon coated. The mechanic at the dealer told me they average about 100K on the guides. The total for changing out all of it was about 2500.00 at the time but nissan paid for all the parts and my part was about 1000.00 only because the warranty ran out by time and not miles and they did that because it was my 5th nissan I had purchased over the years. I just turned 60 and love the car
