Pixel Lit is the video game-literary nerd’s dream come true. It’s a podcast where we read and discuss video game novelizations, and the games they’re based on. This is a podcast for the former kid who read their instruction booklets cover to cover. For the gamer who listens to every audio log in Bioshock.
The Pixel Lit Podcast! Because the only thing better than playing a video game is reading about it.

I liked Get Out, but I LOVED Nope. (Wasn't crazy about Us)
Monty Zander sent me
From where?! Monty is a good guy
@@PixelLit lore dump, he mentioned you on his bioshock podcast, now I'm checking your stuff, pretty good so far.
Awesome thank you!
A Braindance can be anything. Movies, music vids, very popularly snuff films, etc. not just pornography. That was just a funny example portrayed in edgerunners lol. Enjoy your guys vid though.
Ian McDiarmid is awesome. I still say he deserved an Academy Award nomination for Revenge of the Sith. Yes, it's hammy and over-the-top performance, but it's hammy and over-the-top in the perfect way.
Correction: Blessing Of A King takes place in 1558, now about Germany, the German language was invented around 1000 BC, and Germany was OFFICIALLY recognized as a country in 1871, OFFICIALY meaning everyone thought of it as a country, it took until 1871 for someone to go like: Let's check the legal papers and shi- OH MY GOD GERMANY ISN'T AN OFFICIAL COUNTRY?
Correction: Wilhelm's name was "Wilhelm House Of Gerich" or "Wilhelm Von Gerich" that's how names worked back then.
3 Fully grown men talk .bout video game lore +ADHD guy Gold.
Invite people to read the Romero script you say! 👀
👀👀👀
There's nothing deep, philosophical, or romantic about war. It's nothing but monkeys throwing sticks at one another. Bacteria fighting over feces.
❤ THIS BOOK REMINDS ME OF (URBAN ARENA DOUBLE LIFE DECISIONS) IT'S MY FAVORITE BOOK RIGHT NOW !!!!
Helllll heahhhh
Don't see smokers very often? Then come to Ohio. Seems like 75% or more people in the state smoke. (I'm not one of them.)
That’s a lotta smokers!
@@PixelLit Never smoked in my life, but I've probably had my health affected by all the secondhand smoke.
Snake's horniness is one of things I didn't like about the game. That, and the longwinded, often sappy philosophizing of his contacts.
I never knew MGS had a novelization. Probably my favorite non-sport PS1 game. Love how much it is like the original NES/MSX game.
I knew this episode would eventually come, and I’m hyped as hell about it! This is one of the few adaptations I actually own!
It has that (Urban Arena Double Life Decisions) book feel to it. And I love that book so I can see myself reading this!
Awesome! I was just wishing you would do another Worlds of Power book!
More to come!
@@PixelLit Cool!
If you're looking for a pallet cleanser, you should read some more Worlds of Power novels.
The intro discussion reminds me so much of that Christian Bale/Kristen Bell video.
Awesome interview guys! First I’ve heard of ya’ll. But I love the premise for the podcast! Knowing you’ve covered some of the things in your catalog makes me want to check out some of these older novels! But please guys, keep covering Halo!❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Someone tell the author why he wanted evil to win and make things very grey. And to make It so life came from an evil being. Why????? Just ruined it for me and won't be reading any more. 😢😢😢
I’m not sure you are reading the same book? Evil doesn’t win?
Evil win that the conclusion since life evolved from an evil creation. 😢 How sad this is the story of halo.
What are you talking about?
@@PixelLit you know the book you read it. Life was seeded by that monster the flood they are the universe creator and now they have right to consume. Isn't that just plan horrific???? Humans, Covenant, ai fighting it was a complete waste of time. They all related to each other.
The Forerunners, specifically the Libriarian reseeded human life. Either way that you took a really upbeat ending from this book and decided to get sad about old lore is kinda weird.
@@PixelLitincorrect the forerunner had nothing to do with it. Go read the book! If you have no moral you won't feel sad. And how can you not feel sad that you been fighting a pointless cause? The flood can do what ever they wnat with you and the universe must not resist. You belong to them!!! IT like Luke sykwalker and all the alliance finding there was no such thing as light. They were are on the dark side. Palpatine is their creator they are all related. That not possible noooooooooooooo 😝
this is rlly cool man
Thank you!
Just finished the 2 Halo: Epitaph episodes and had to revisit Kelly Gay with this series, she's great! Love the pod guys
Thanks so much! We will have our interview coming up with her soon.
In terms of books, I feel like being punched so hard you fly across an entire desert is the kind of goofy shit you will only find in video game adaptations. Love it!
DmC can't stop catching strays a decade later
Always and forever lmao
This book is falling like Skittles.
As skittles do: they fall.
Loved the series! This book was a challenging read. I got to the end and my mine was blown but also felt like I missed some details along the way that left me with a lot of questons. Even went back and re-read a few chapters to try to pick things up. This series helped immensely for filling in many of the mental holes I had in the plot! Also agree 100% with both of your takes. I thought it was an excellent read and extremely well written. And yes, it was a downer of a book, but fuck it made for a good story.
Great video guys nice to see someone doing an indepth review of this book:)
Thank you so much 🙏
I also did a review on the book! Great video you two:)
Thank you!

What?
Maybe this is on the audiobook, but I was mostly lost & confused and thus not invested in the story. This 3 part podcasts really helped me out getting a grip on the story! Thanks for that!
A lot of stuff was happening all the time haha it took me a lot of notes to keep it all straight!
Im having way more fun listing to your guys review/play by play than reading the book 👍
That’s what we are here for 🫡
The audiobook messed me up. I had thought it was a long term project by Millitech with Ayas implants and Zor being messed with happening at the same time in the past seperate from Milenas crash since Milena mentioned remembering Aya from and emp taking her parts. Now it seems like it was a really rushed job by the corp instead of a decade long experiment. Also I hope Alt Cunningham has munching on that free Albert buffet.
Yeah when you realize it all takes place in the course of like a couple months you’re like “ohhhhh”.
I may have missed this but did she explain how she knew so much about Resident evil? I mean did she sit down and play every game available at the time multiple times? I just don't know how she knew enough to understand how the characters were and the dynamic between them and all the little stuff, I mean I can't imagine her just being given a quick rundown and then she just ran wild unless that's exactly how it was
So, at the time there wasn't a LOT of information about the characters. She did play the games several times if I recall but otherwise just had to kinda go on her own intuition.
just a heads up the thumbnail still says it's the fnaf movie
This is what happens when you make thumbnails while sleepy! thanks for the heads up lmao
Literally nothing could have prepared me for those vivid descriptions of annihilated toilets. Another instantly iconic opening.
You guys convinced to read for myself, which lead me back here because the book is so dense. The changing of characters threw me off in the firat couple of chapters but once you have an idea who the main's are it becomes easier to follow.
Yeah! We weren't lying haha it's a DENSE book. Thoroughly enjoyed it but my word does it have a lot going on lmao.
I love Cyboerpunk 2077, i beat the game 3 times. The books take the game to a new level. The graphic novels are still pumping out, i think the final one wrapped up called XOXO Theres a graphic novel tied into phantom liberty called Ten Swords which you can read for free. I like that all of these spin off's dont tie into the game in a major way which adds breathing room for more things to come. 2077 is going to be one hell of a year.
Agreed, the books really do take it over the top!
the cover is Zor in the middle and the two girls are the ones controlling his mind and memories I think they were called op1 and op2
Sure that works! Lol, I think there are three Operators though in the book, but yeah that might me it
I find the reason for the book having drawn out boring segments is just worldbuilding for the first ever necromorph outbreak, after all micheal altman founded unitology by accident due to his research influencing the governments actions with the marker
Yeaahhh, I think there could been some tightening though and still achieve the same effect
That was a hell of a running start. I'm not exactly sure I want to know what the context of the conversation was.
Been waiting on the inevitable 40k dip. If you're looking for another recommendation the Infinite and the Divine by Robert Rath is a must read.
The net runners name is albert not arthur
Yeah, I mention that weird snafu in Episode 2
Thank you for enduring this book so we don't have to :P
Hahahaha
I thought Albert's name was "Arthur?" 😮
Lmao: it's Albert, I randomly wrote Arthur down at some point? I mandela effected an entirely different name? Noooo idea how it happened. -Kevin
Thanks, just about to start the game and wanted a recap on the book. This will help me feel immersed in the lore of this universe
Thanks for listening!
"I love it when you call me Big Papa....Chief." - Master Chief probably.
Probably. Definitely.
I actually really love this book 😂
Lollll well we did not have a lot of good things to say about it
Soon as i heard the rant about the setting in mexico. Sounds very ignorant , you should have read the synopsis of the book.
What are you talking about
More than happy to bond over horror stuff with you Phil!
Hell yeah!
This might be a false truth but I remember the useless items you described that Alexander brings along. Probably wrote them down while reading to try and solve puzzles along the way 😂
