I heard that he is going to hold in still until the deal is done.
I got a Commanders fan sub to you,🤯😆
Maybe they'll even find a way to bring Tindell into the mix. Turn him loose. Long and Brooks will handle the middle.
Time of possession besides the offensive scores would help reduce winding the defense.
I could do without Wilkins' spirited penalties, though. In the playoffs vs KC, that depleted defense with players signed off the street had KC stopped on downs a few times only for a roughing call to grant them new downs which led to scores. Barrett is gone. Is this a dated recording? But I think Brooks and Poyer are going to be vocal leaders.
Can’t wait for the season to start.
I say that every season :) This one has a little more juice though...
Phinz UP
yes, sir!
Ace but his sacks was all garbage time against Washington giants and jets we need more from him and he playing for another contact before he retire
and denver... fair take on your part, but for less than 300 snaps still not bad. He was just rushing from the edge will not a ton of blitz help... I'm under no delusion he's a stud, but he can produce and is a vet and will allow flexibility with Chop and Kamara to be inserted when it's better for them. We needed him.... wished we added better, but with Chubb and Phillips with the rookies, we really couldn't from a finanacial stand point. He played pretty weel vs Bills WK18 with 46 snaps.... he didn't see much action for half the season.
@@AcePerHeadrespect boss hopefully he can get upwards of 600 snaps he haven’t had that work load in about 3 years I see him getting about 8 sacks that’s a plus and it give hims another one year deal for about 8 million
@@jt2k264 i think given chubb and phillips return with the rookies... 400-500 is more in line... campbell too... hey 600 + if he is playing well and we go into the PS... i just see him as vet filler...but good filler... i'd love your eval more...og was a fav of mine.
@@jt2k264 im going to go back and watch him from last season... you've perked my interest in studying him.
Haters 😂😂
Og coming back is super interesting to me. I thought the issue was Grier and his contract. Turns out it looks more like it was an issue with Fangio. Makes it look better for Cam's situation
I don't know if it was Fangio. It was a one year contract and we could have brought him back if we wanted. In 2023, Ogbah had 20 hurries, 6 sacks, 11 stops, 12 hurries, and 1 pick in 286 snaps. Those are pretty good numbers! If you compare it to his 2021 Season of 755 snaps, 60 hurries, 11 sacks, 37 hurries, and 30 stops, and in his 2020 Season of 792 snaps, 66 pressures, 10 sacks, 44 hurries, and 26 stops, they are very comparable given he had only 40% of the snaps last year. He might be better as a hand in the ground, but he produced quite well.
Good take, Curtis. Love and Tua are not in the same situation.
Thanks, brother!! I think Tua plays this out and if they don't come to an agreement, then next year he'll take a harder stance.
@@AcePerHead I think so, too. I think he could demand more if he shines. The Dolphins need to be prudent and others overpaying should not dictate to them. That said, I'm guessing the holdup is that the Dolphins are imposing performance clauses while Tua's agent is pushing guaranteed money.
Fins fans can use some good news. So thank you Curtis. Let's hope things fall our way this year. If, and it's a big IF, the O line stays reasonably healthy, I think we have a real good shot to be a very different team late in the year. It's not that McD doesn't want to run the ball. He would love to hand the ball off late in games to protect a lead. But you have to have confidence in the run when it matters most. 3rd and short. Get first downs. Blah blah blah. Same old game. The backs on this team are good. Dare I hope?
"Dare I hope?" This is the time for hope! Let it ride hard... plenty of time for reality soon enough :)
Curtis We can't trust anything coming out of Dolphin camp. Football has become more like Actors not Athlets
100%, but I'd rather the actors acting happy and the news happy than not :) Better tea leaves for an old man dying to see some success.
It's about a tactical advantage generally.
No Phillips, No Barrett, No X, No Wilkens, No Hunt, No Connor, No Chubb, No Fangio, and a 15 year old girl head coach running the show. 20% of our salary cap is used on Hill and Waddle alone, and we signed Beckham who's an injury prone diva. We're 2-3 injuries away from having a top 10 pick in 2025, the best QB we've had in 2 decades doesn't have a contract (because we're broke) and still there are people that think Grier is good at his job. I know, I know, broken record over here....
Look at this retirement as a season ending injury. We're used to it with this MASH unit of a franchise. Next man.
:) I don't think it's the end of the world, but it does demand the rookies play much better and much sooner.
Hey Curtis, new sub here. Saw your collab with Dougie. Great stuff. Looking forward to see your channel grow
Thanks, brother! Working with Doug was a blast... appreciate the support!!!!
I'm not worried, we've got talent
Not as much as "we" did last season. Interior O-line's been downgraded, and it was already a weak spot last season. AVG has yet to be adequately replaced. The two rookies "might" be able to but we don't know that yet. Safety looks thinner than an '80s supermodel. The only real upgrades have been at #3 WR and Brooks replacing Baker. And even that's debateable.
I wouldn't be worried. Og is a good replacement... so pros and cons to him over Barrett. But, rookies being forced in more than intended runs some risks... they could step up and turn it inot a good thing...or not. Time will tell.
"Safety looks thinner than an '80s supermodel. " Funny :) I mostly agree! If Poyer stays healthy I think we'll be good... and if Cam can fill in there as well. OL is a sore spot and AVG was a beast who has been replace with talent that will take time to be what he was last season. Let's see how it plays out... we are thin in some key areas but a little luck could go a long way... bad luck though would be a bitter pill to swallow.
Get the Hawaiian, Brandon Pili brah. My dad's from Hawaii so I'm a little prejudiced, I'm a Miami boy but spent much of my life there too. Also matters with Tua. Has Pili overcome the achilles tear? I don't know but he's a Hawaiian who grew up in Alaska so can handle cold and Hawaiians will rumble baby.
Phillips had the achillies tear... pili is healthy he was just young... I like his potential a ton too, brother.
Curtis I got on all the devices in the house that had different KZread accounts and subbed them to your channel. 😂
Gaming the system.... i'll let it slide this time :) Thanks, brother.
Looks like Ogbah is coming in for a workout tomorrow.
Also, RE: the IR, the Dolphins can keep Goode and Chubb on PUP until week 11 or 12, then they have 2 weeks of practice before they have to activate them to the 53, so they have a good amount of flexibility with the roster early on without having to waste an IR to return spot. Agree with your assessments on Chop and Kamara early though. Setting the edge is going to be a big deal. Shaq Lawson would be another edge setting option.
@@joe_dns4625 Thanks re read the rules.... you are correct. They can't practice at all... so missing the 1st four games is a must. Thanks, I'll do a mea culpa next PC.
okay.... not great wonder how much he has left? More DE than OLB.... but we can do worse.
@joe_dns4625 Besides Ogbah, Yannick Ngakoue also will be visiting the Dolphins.
@@c2jones saw that. He’d be more expensive, most likely, and not as good vs. the run, but we need help at the position in a big way, esp setting the edge, imo.
It's also not just the edge. Van Ginkel filled so many different spots last year when guys went down. We lacked depth but VG filled in admirably. It was questionable whether Barrett would be able to do that, and now...? Have we managed to improve our depth? Because if players start dropping we no longer have the swiss army knife backup that VG provided us.
not sure why Grier didn't stick with VG... twice. Hey, if the rookies play like many fans believe will be good and excellent long term, but rookies suffer rookie blues... very very few don't... even if they are good... we'll see time for the start of the season is here brother!!!
AVG's cap number this season is...$3.4 mil. I refuse to believe the Dolphins couldn't afford that. Not wanting to give Hunt a $100 mil deal? I get it. Even Wilkins being too pricey is undersandable. But there's no way on God's green earth AVG shouldn't still be on this team right now.
@@AcePerHead I believe it was actually Weaver's call. It's the only explanation that makes sense. And if I'm right he made a major mistake that doesn't bode well for the rest of his time here. Barrett's cap number this season was actually higher than AVG's so it couldn't have been a money thing.
Chop Robinson: He may not of had the stats.. every play it seemed like he was first to the ball. At times he took on 2 blockers because he was first on scene Agree it mat take a yr or two
in the pass rush he'll do well, although he needs more tools... but the run def and setting the edge will take time... but I agree in time he'll do well... what level is well? I'd say even as a dedicated pass rusher he'll have above avg value... the run def. is where he'll take his talents to the next level. Phillips was the same way... once his run D picked up the rest rose to another level.
Barrett wasn't shining in drills. He only had 4.5 sacks all of last year. He may not have even made the cut because clearly his performance was off due to declining skill and probably some distraction at home. You have relentlessly critiqued Chubb as an unnecessary piece and he had 11 sacks last year. But Barrett with his 4.5 sacks is a detrimental loss? They'll pick up another bargain stop-gap. Probably Emmanuel Ogbah. All the critique you're applying to Chop and Kamara were also applied to Jason Taylor and Cameron Wake. (I'm going to download this video to ensure I have a copy when this is revisited later in the season. 😉)
"You have relentlessly critiqued Chubb as an unnecessary piece and he had 11 sacks last year. " 24 mill per season and multiple picks to acquire vs 9 mill for a single season. Chubb had Phillips, Wilkins, and Sieler... think that might have helped? "But Barrett with his 4.5 sacks is a detrimental loss? " Not sure if you listened to what I said but i said multiple times it centered around run defense... just incase you missed it :) "I'm going to download this video to ensure I have a copy when this is revisited later in the season. " Please do. I'll do the same with your quote. Neither are Taylor and Wake took a few years to mature. So, apples and oranges... or are you saying Wake and Taylor and Chop and Kamara are equal... is that what you are saying?
@AcePerHead Salaries are aside the premise. Barrett had interior linemen help, too. They all do. Chubb's run defense was superior to Barrett's last year. Solo tackles especially. Chop was the 21st overall pick. Taylor was the 73rd overall pick. He had many critics that said he was too small and wouldn't make the cut. Yet Taylor won the Dolphins Team Newcomer of the Year award during his rookie season in 1997. You're dismissing what impact Chop can have based on your impressions of his film. You would have had all that and more of Taylor in his college years. If it's too soon to count on Chop, then it's equally too soon to count him out.
@@c2jones "Salaries are aside the premise. " Cost creates different expectations. Chubb is 275 he should. He is also younger and had a better cast. It's not about Barret equalling Chubb... that's ridiculous... it's about not having rookies be forced to start and carry the position with a new D in a critical season. what does draft selection have to do with it? Critics for every player every year... most small guys and guys from small schools and low rep counts in college do struggle... Who is counting anyone out? It's about the player growing and evaling them based on who they are? You have your eval which is overly optimistic and mine simply runs with the general consensus of rookies and these player's skillsets and the general consensus of their evals.
@AcePerHead That Chubb has underperformed for the price (again) isn't (or shouldn't be) the discussion. It's not ridiculous. This fretting over an underproductive Barrett is what's ridiculous. 4.5 sacks and a mere 33 solo tackles are nowhere near this level of concern. The Chubb comparison was to production, not value. To suppose that rookies cannot make an impact is historically untrue. They'll probably bring back Ogbah to quell your anxiety. My guess is that him or Hand will exceed Barrett's numbers of last year.
@@AcePerHead Chubb was finally playing up to his contract when he got hurt because McDaniel felt it was important for him to be on the field in the final minutes of a 37-point loss. Just sayin'.
Curtis what next. This season is a house of cards.
I wouldn't say that... I'd say that a nice buffer has been removed and the rookies are now more critical... we'll see what it amounts to.
If our O stays healthy the first 4 games- we RUN the ball and STACK points and score 30 Plus a game we take the pressure off the D- this is where Coach McD needs to be flawless on the O and Pound the rock- esp in the September heat- art of war- is the O to help the D And don’t forget our new TE:)
O will play a major part. 3-1 is the least we can afford. I like our chances at that... but vulnerability to the run will make it harder vs. those teams.
Not mad at all i kind of want Chop to get more reps until Phillips and chubb return
Thing is that can be good for the kid, but maybe not for the D and the team. Even Phillips in Year 1 was slowly brought in and played in a framework of his best tools... Chop could struggle. He has very limited reps, of course he could grow and thrive. A lot is riding on which direction it goes now that there isn't a backup... when does Chubb and Phillips arrive is another big piece of the puzzle.
When is Phillips returning? Am concerned about this defense in the beginning of the season?
@@alexistorres2425 not sure... figure he is on the IR to start the season so WK 5 is the earliest... but I'm thinking Wk 7 after the bye and Chubb a few games after that as the earliest. Just me two cents.
@AcePerHead Jason Taylor, Chris Jones and T.J. Watt all had limited reps coming in as rookies, too.
@@c2jones Taylor played nearly every down. Jones wasn't under the pressure of winning now and took a few years to be a starter, Watt played in 15 games and started in 15... so these rookies as it is now likely will get a few hundred more reps than they were expected to get. Let's see how they do.
Really enjoyed this breakdown - also liked the addition of their personal stats, like height/weight etc. Be interesting to see who comes out on top with some of these questionable DI’s 😊
Thanks, brother. Think this will be an interesting storyline for camp.
Maybe a vet will pop free at the end of training camp we can sign.
Likely. Maybe the rooks blossom fast? Anything can happen at this stage. I would like a stopgap vet just in case.
Besides Emmanuel Ogbah, Yannick Ngakoue also will be visiting the Dolphins.
Realistically barret was a body until philips and chubb return was he going to be a solid veteran piece that bring leadership as well as play yes especially with two young edges in kamara and chop robinson but let's not think barret was going to get 14+ sacks and was coming to be a menace on the line as for van ginkle we will see if his dolphins play would translate to the vikings his skillset was ideal under fangio's system i see we are bringing in ogbah for a visit and it wouldn't suprise me that he returns to the team which like barrett would be a stopgap player until philips and chubb returns.
I'd say more than a body. It's not about the sacks, but the veteran presence able to handle run downs and position the rooks in good situations. Two rookies are now critical... could go smashing or in the middle or less than that... I could see Og or another vet. Whatever it is a stopgap for sure... but we can't have too much let down in losses until they arrive if we want to make the PS. It will be a very interesting plotline... but Barrett would have made the buffer a bit better. Let's see how it plays out, brother.
I don't think Barrett would have had nearly the effect you're supposing. Chubb, who you feel has been underwhelming, had 45 solo tackles compared to Barrett's meager 33.
It's not about comparing them. Chubb is younger and he played with Wilkins, Phillips, VG, and Sieler... comparing them is ridiculous and it's not about that. Chubb and Phillips won't be here till mid season... it's about getting to them. Barrett would have been a vet who can teach the rooks and handle run downs and allow the kids to be on downs that suit them. Now the rooks will play a major piece till Chubb and Phillips get here... no buffer but Campball who is more a bull end that speed rush and he can't drop. Barrett could do it all... no not like 5 years ago, but he can do it better from a vet standpoint then the rooks... I get you have high belief in them... but Phillips and VG took time... I guess Chop and Kamara will come out like studs... both. Hope you are right.
Hey where is Ricky! Tell him DaShawn is looking for him 😂😂
I agree with your take on Tart. I wish the best for him, but he needs to bring the hammer if he's gonna beat out this lot. And....Hand is a beast low-key
I like Hand... but how does he perform with more reps? Tart is 1 D player with issues... but he does have talent. We'll see, brother.
I think Tart and Jones play the Pearce/Jones role. Seiler is Justin M. Campbell is Urban, listed as DE but plays iDL. Gallimore and Harris will beat out Pili and Hand. Not sure why you think Hand at 6’3” 295lbs is the someone we are keeping. Harris is a better player.
I agree on the roles because of prototype... just not on skill level. Harris is 6'5'' 295... Hand is shorter a 2 lbs heavier. Harris is to tall and thin inside. Sieler and Campbell and Gallimore are better... so that's why. Pili might not make it, but he has size and speed. We lack size and in the A gap you need size. Based on production Hand played better than Harris last season... but you may be right. We'll see.
@@AcePerHead I thought Harris was more productive but maybe you are right. I hope Pili can take the step, I just think he gets put on PS again. If he has gained weight and strength, as you pointed out, would be huge.
Hey curtis sporting a dolphin shirt! Looking good
:) Thanks, sister.
It sucks that the two biggest question marks for me are on the O-line and the D-line... the point where EVERY play starts. I know there was no way to pay Wilkins $28mil, but the whole idea of quantity over quality seems to me came from minds in panic. I'm still keeping hopes that some team will cut someone decent to make space on their roster. If not.... Tua might need to throw in a second and a half! lol
💯
Protection will be fine. Running game will excel.
@@c2jones I hope you are right but I disagree
We are thinner on the D front and thin on the OL... we'll see if you can win with heavy skills and lightness on the trenches... Grier made this a clear philosophical decision...
Lets hope Phillips is ready for week 1. Cutting it close with the edge position now. They do have money, so shaq retirement might not be felt. Even though he didnt play a snap for us
Chop and Kamara will be the difference makers.
@@c2jones they haven't played a snap in the NFL. Nobody knows what they're going to do yet. Carl Lawson and Yannick ngakoue are still free agents. We will need a guy that has experience and past productivity
@MickRac10 Of course, nobody knows. These forums are opinion-based, including yours. I'm sure they'll add some other stragglers to the mix who, if they're lucky, might even make the practice squad. Chop and Kamara will not be amongst them. Both will see plenty of snaps this year. If you're suggesting otherwise then I'm happy to wager that with you.
@@c2jones you want to wager snaps? I don't think the point of NFL football is snaps. Its statistics. If you want to put a guy on the field they has 300 snaps and doesn't get a sack, then you have no idea how to run a football team. Regardless, my opinion is, I hope chop and kamara turn out to be good players. I'm a fan of the team, but I'm not relying on two rookies going against NFL veterans to make a big dent their first year when they have zero NFL experience. And they'll get the snaps if they refuse to sign anybody and Phillips and Chubb don't make it back till mid season or just aren't 100%. I hope you're right that they make a difference, but opinions and facts are separate things. There are no facts yet. That's all.im saying man. I'll circle back to this comment when the games start. I'll give you credit if you are right.
@@MickRac10 Not wagering the amount of snaps...but that they (Chop and Kamara) will have plenty of snaps. That was the premise. Your statement of "two rookies going against NFL veterans to make a big dent their first year when they have zero NFL experience" is puzzling. There have been many rookies making a "dent" in their rookie year. We've had several here in Miami do it. Strange statement. Barrett only had 4.5 sacks last year. Chop and Kamara will both have at least that each. That's not saying much. Making too much of nothing with the loss of Barrett. Yes, set a reminder for yourself to circle back. You won't believe you wrote those remarks above.

Algo gods smile on those who get to 10 k :)
Thanks for focusing on the middle and trying to leave no stone unturned, good good stuff.
Sucks that Barrett retired!!! Anyway...thanks, brother.
@AcePerHead Which opens the door for Kamara to get more playing time. Barrett's numbers were in steady decline. Usually these sudden retirements come from poor camps and the realization on both sides that the performance may not be enough to warrant a starting position.
@@c2jones True, but this forces a rookie to have to start... Kamara has positives and flaws and so does chop. Shaq would have allowed them both more time and best situations to grow... now they are forced to contribute and any injury to either or Campbell is very dangerous. Chubb and Phillips are 2nd Qtr earliest...
YES! I believe in Kamara to be a rabid dawg
@@AcePerHead They'll probably sign Ogbah on the cheap. He had better numbers than Barrett despite only playing 25% of the snaps. Chop and Mo will fill the gaps. Remember where you heard it first. 😉
And Shaq Barrett has retired. Another failure by Grier. People have this idea that he makes great moves, and sometimes he does, but there's a clear trend of not retaining young talent, and bringing in stars past their prime. It can't be proven, but it seems like accomplished players want to play out their last years in the Florida climate, with better taxes. This team isnt going to compete until Grier has gone.

Again, this OL can't stop the better teams so they are setting Tua up for failure. If the stars align maybe we get that playoff win this year. Fingers crossed.
Thanks, brother. I am but I am not. Fangio is darn good, but not a system you can jump start that quick and we didn't have the personnel. Weaver is a better and quicker scheme fit, but you can't match Fangio's wisdom and exp. We can still do good, don't get me wrong... but the failure was at the top. Why hire Fangio and then sign Ramsey who isn't a match? It slowed the whole thing down... but here we are and Weaver's scheme is the best match at this point... so... hoping we kill it!!!! Stars might need to align sadly... but stranger things have happened!!
Rocky is 14 years old! I love dogs. I had one dog in y life for 15 years. He passed away and I have never been able to replace him. Dogs are God's blessing to men.
