That lumber yard is still there but not sure if it is still Georgia Pacific. It is still a lumber yard and still have rail freight service but now is done by New York & Atlantic railroad. Motive power is no longer the C-420's but now performed by ex-LIRR GP38-2's and MP15's.

3:37 I love the footage. My father worked the Ronkonkoma yard back in the 70s and 80s. He worked the midnight shift and that gray building in the back was the LIRR employee shop. He used to take me to work with him back then when I was a little kid and always remember when he took me to the Jaws plow and into a GP-38. Great memories watching this and how much I miss my dad. Thanks!

Questions for the LIRR: 1- Why did the LIRR stay loyal to ALCO Locomotives ? 2- Why did no one ever select a Paint Scheme for this Railroad, and make it the only one instead of diddling around with all and having nothing uniform ? 3-Does any Railroad in the USA carry more Passengers than the LIRR these days ? 4- With Daily Congestion flooding the East End of Long Island these days, especially the South Fork (AKA The Hamptons) what is the LIRR doing to help alleviate that nightmare?
