Hello!
My name is Jaya, I live in southern Ibaraki, just an hour out of central Tokyo, with my wife and our twin boys.
In this channel I'm documenting the process of buying and renovating an abandoned Japanese farmhouse.
I'll also do some videos where I visit other renovations here in Japan, as well as videos on related topics.
I'm originally from Australia, though we lived in London, UK, for about 11 years, until 2017.

A beautiful home embracing all the elements!
🙀👍👍👍 cantik!!
I’m sure glad there wasn’t any snakes down there for you to see or mostly for me since I’m afraid of them!
💜
Such a lovely transformation!
I built some raised beds similar to yours but lined the inside with plastic sheet to hopefully stop the wood from rotting. I am always interested in your tools as you have things not common here, thx
I would have asked the carpenters to sign and date a rafter, it’s a work of art and beautiful.
❤❤❤WHAT A SCORE!!
wonderful
Beautiful job, love your work. One small note, the first 6 min of the video was hard to watch because of how much the camera shook. You might want to slow down some of those shots.
Thank you so much for refurbishing and re-purposing so many original pieces within the house! I've seen too many house flippers out there buy up old homes with so much history and character, just to absolutely gut them of everything that gave them charm. Seeing you add more wood to the antique doors so that they could still be used gave me so much joy
jesus c that dovetail joint was impeccable.
Could you please share the total cost of all renovations so far?
9 pesos
It looks beautiful! :)
I have been sending my son the tools you use and assortment of books illustrating Japanese wood work, whenever he has a birthday or Christmas. At my suggestion he has been watching your wonderful videos. He has his own work shop and has started experimenting with these techniques whenever appropriate.
in the usa this house is worth half a million $ if its in the middle of nowhere and 10x that if its by any city thats worth a dam
What a beautiful home!
Absolutely amazing. I would have liked to read more details on both the demolition and construction.
I've seen a ton of home renovation videos and this is by far the most beautiful renovation I have ever seen! I love how you modernized it while keeping the original Japanese aesthetic intact. Absolutely gorgeous!
A lot trap be aware .
One thing about abandoned Asian homes....they will let it look straight up haunted before stealing things out of it.
すごーい✨✨キレイにしてもらって、きっと家も喜んでるね😊
Thank you for showing me what my dreamhouse could look like. Absolutely gorgeous
Excellent video, I am considering buying a home like yours and fixing it up myself. Beginner Fixer Upper, how difficult was building permit process in Japan? Material easy to buy? no Home Depot there I assume. Thanks Again,
Great what you are doing, keep up the excellent work.
Fantastic work. Did you think it would take four years when you took on the project?
how much is the total cost incurred from purchases the house, renovations, taxes and so on ?
7 pesos
A rude question maybe but how much did you roughly spend on the renovation? Because this is a house I’d much prefer over the million dollar modern mansions and the fact you bought I’d for that “little” amount of money is crazy, beautiful video 👍🏼👍🏼
14 Korean won
Correct me if im wrong, its seems insulation that you mentioned is cheaper in Japan than in Australia?just had a look at bunnings.
My future home will have some traditional japanese art!! But in a modern way in a 5 foot building!! This is really inspirational!!
Hello, does anyone know the name of this house type? The main house's roof has many impressive details. As I know the roof maybe is inspired by Heian period architecture, and constructed with Kawara tiles
I need to work out more. my knees hurt watching this.
im chubby. I could get down there but never come up again. I would end up like that pheasant.
That is truly a masterpiece.
Amazing
oh man I would LOVE to go in there and give it a good clean....
I love so many things, from the community help in the early parts to the snowy scenes to such a beautifully renovated house in the end ❤
you got that for 20k no way 😳
🤦♂ I can't believe the previous owners installed a faux European ceiling in a traditional Japanese house. ⛩
why many japanese people abandoned their tradisional house?😭
I absolutely adore that it is both traditional and modern. You made it all flow together so well.
So incredible! How much money does the restauration costs?
6 pounds 12 ounces
Second house has 666 in Hebrew on the door. Big NO from me.
Absolutely love the traditional roof! 🙂
Beautiful house. Thank you 🙏 for bringing her back to life.
love seeing old abandoned homes renovated into a new one instead of deconstructing it
Magnificent. The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction must be overwhelming.
4year renovation, recently japs just build less than 3mos😅 akiya or abandoned homes quite lovely to purchase due to its price but lots of money for renovation it’s just like buying a new one😅countryside like ibarakki is very much prone to tremors, most people abandoned their homes due to this reason
