    The Spitfire X7 and Q4 props have extremely low slip, way less than standard 3-blade props. Depending on boats, they can actually be near zero on lighter aluminum boats with efficient hulls like Lund's. With the numbers you posted below, your Q4 is running at about 5% slip, whereas your Michigan Wheel was running 20%. Doesn't surprise me, as MW is known to be a 'value' brand compared to Mercury props, and I don't think are particularly efficient. That's why you gained so much speed with the Q4, it's super efficient.

    Fred that Q4 is actually a Mercury Rev4 prop not Spitfire

    If I recall the Rev 4 is the big hub SS 4 blade 135hp up and the Spitfire is what they call the small hub 60CT to 125HP

    Incorrect, sort of. There are two Q4 props, 4.25” and 4.75”. The 4.25” is a spitfire and the 4.75” is a Rev4.

    Well, how's the prop? Did you lose any top end speed? Does it handle better? I have the same Rapture prop, 21p, and I'm looking at the same Quicksilver wheel. Funny I found your video. However, I'd like to stay with the same size. Your motor looks like a 2 stroke. Is that so? What HP? Thanks.

    CajunRulez I have a 2006 merc 115 4-stroke. My old prop at WOT was doing 34mph @5300-5400 rpm. The Q4 did 39mph @5400rpm. Holeshot and cornering improved significantly, especially with the boat loaded with 5 adults. I'm surprised the RPMs didn't increase much. Also 5mph more was unexpected. I can trim the engine up more around sharp turns without the prop blowing out.

  • @CajunRulez
    @CajunRulez6 жыл бұрын

    Hey thanks for the reply! So you went down in pitch and gained that much on the top end? That's awesome. I guess it really does get so much more of the boat out of the water that you get less resistance. My boat has a terrible hole shot and handles awful. With a full livewell and an extra passenger the back end sits real low. The 90 HP doesn't have enough power to lift the boat high enough so the bow hops around. Cornering is dangerous actually. I think this prop will fix that problem, and might even gain a little more speed. Based on your reply I think I might go with a 19p. Thanks again.

    You'll notice my reel is mounted high. I personally prefer it this way on this rod for better balance. I think if I had a 13', I would mount it lower.

    Does your CRD burn any oil? I seem to lose about 1L over the course of 12,000km. I change the oil every 15,000. Wondering if this is normal.

  • @freddy2rbo
    @freddy2rbo8 жыл бұрын

    +George Zegouras I don't notice any significant oil loss over my 10,000km oil change.

  • @GeeZeeGZ
    @GeeZeeGZ8 жыл бұрын

    O.K thanks, this is my first diesel so I wasn't sure if this was normal. I don't consider 1L over 12,000 to be really bad but I might take it to a garage just to see if it's a simple fix. Thanks again.

    How do you like the Fumoto? Do you regret not getting the 90 degree fitting? I am thinking of getting one.

  • @freddy2rbo
    @freddy2rbo9 жыл бұрын

    +George Zegouras Yes! Considering that the drain plug on the Jeep is horizontal, I would get the 90 degree fitting if I had to do it all over again. I probably wouldn't need the silicone tube. The Fumoto valve is great. No leaks, no mess, no problems. It reduces the chance of cross-threading the drain plug. I recommend it if you do your own oil change.
