    nice job on the kodiak island buck and was the sloan bear with cubs when she was charging

  • @MaxKobuk
    @MaxKobuk26 күн бұрын

    Thanks! The first bear that charged was actually a two or three year old cub, and then 15 seconds later the sow came. Where we were hunting it’s often said that a gunshot equals a dinner-bell in their mind… so it’s likely they were looking for a meal.

    What is cost recovery fishing vs. normal season? Is there a difference? Does cost recovery affect the amount paid to the boat?

  • @MaxKobuk
    @MaxKobuk2 ай бұрын

    Cost Recovery is a special season at the hatchery where the hatchery allows the processors to bid on quotas, then the processor selects boat(s) to participate in cost recovery. Boats get paid a fraction of the normal price per pound, but the volume can make up for it.

  • @MaxKobuk
    @MaxKobuk3 ай бұрын

    Hard to say! There’s a lot of variables. You can always get smaller bands too (thickness) or just tie them long so they aren’t as hard to pull back

    @@MaxKobuk well I didnt wait on your reply and went for it! I have a 54 inch mahogany riffe competitor now, found it used and wanted one like yours and thought it was the euro but it's not. Still a nice gun just the grip is bulky plastic so not sure how it will hold up when being thrown in a boat and banged around! Looks like multiple pieces of wood stuck together. The euro is teak this is mahogany I'm not sure how good mahogany holds up or what the pros and cons are? It's also open track so I can load the shaft easy from the top by just pushing it down and back till it pops in, the shooting line is the only thing holding the shaft in place like on yours. That was a good tip you gave about being able to shoot a bent shaft with this versus the closed track style. Your video here is one of my favorite vids ever about spearguns!!! If you ever make a video again can lay out and name some of those Hawaii fish because the names you said in this Video all sound similar to me when you say them! LoL I need a Hawaii fish lesson. I was stationed there and want to come back and dive there someday. What island are you on? Thanks dude :)
