You replaced the updated threaded design starters (1996+) with the older, far worse design. The reason the threaded design is preferred is once it's on there, taking the tranny on and off is a lot easier because you don't have to fidget and get creative with putting the nuts on the other side. It's just held on by the tranny hex bolts and nothing else. You don't need to take off the intake manifold. I would NEVER put on the old design for that reason. I would literally wait and buy a different starter because I know its going to turn into a nightmare job.

No clearance issues with a rear sump, but its definitely needed for this conversion

Love the build dude. Can't wait to see what it goes like with the LS. Was thinking about putting a LS in mine but manual boxes aren't cheap in NZ and don't think auto box would work well so sticking with a M50 turbo lol.

With the power and the torque his car makes the gearboxes he is using have no hope, only good for around 300hp, as for the diff, it had alot of play and was pretty old

Brought it at around 113k's, reliability has been great, the intercooler was replaced just before I brought it with a slightly bigger factory replacement, other then that it's been good so far!

Ever figure out what to do about the tie rod situation? I’m in the same boat as you. Please let me know thanks. Make a vid about it iF you can. You’d be the first to really explain how to make the E90 inner work if you did. There’s no vids on how to do it.

So e90 inners are to long to work with e46 lower arms, so what I did was cut and extend the stock ones by 20mm, I ran that set up for 2 events and found that the e36 arms are too fat, so I pulled them out and replaced them with 60mm extended stock e36 arms which then I could then use the e90 inner tie rods with 20mm cut off them! Hope this helps!

Steering sharft is just a condor speed shop slimline sharft, works great and gives heaps more room

Thanks mate! My car had done 113k kms when I got it, and new cooler had already been done by dealer before I picked it up! But I'm looking at changing all the pipe work, not sure about egr, but looking at getting it block off and tuned out in the future
