He talks of evil - yet his comments on spirtuality and religion imply guidance on what evil actually is, is up for interpretation. Then he hads he would commit violent acts upon "evil people." Well I dont trust his definition of evil, he comes across as high in intelligence, low in wisdom- yet his anger i must assume is a direct result of that. Rage at seeing there is something more that he calls evil - but a lack of understanding as to why it exists, and his theories presented are weak at best, purposely deceptive at worst

I like his work (the one we all know). I don't agree with his viewpoint. What is presumptuous is to assume God will work in a way you can fathom even a billionth of. Though it's unlikely. I hope he was saved before his death. Despite his disbelief and words of anger against God, I still love him and want the best for him. Rather than hate, we can love. My father. His life was turned around and he was given motivation when he surrendered himself to God. Our pastor lost 2 children, one of them was shot while he was on the phone with her. He still believes and preaches his word regardless. This man's works are interesting, but it is obvious that something has scarred and hurt him, the way he speaks, how bitter he seems. I just feel sorry for him.

Imagine the arrogance to not even care to know how his entire worldview was shaped, and where his own literature derives. So arrogant, perhaps, he (and Twain for that matter) think their work came ex nihilo - from the god within, naming themselves the pinnacle of thought. Except, any historian would tell you otherwise. Harlan’s work, like anyone’s very thoughts (I’m heavily influenced by the historian Tom Holland), is clearly traceable, not only being influenced by Twain or Poe, but Lewis and Wordsworth, Shakespeare, and yes, your favorite best seller: The Bible! Connecting the material world (science) and the immaterial world (fiction) is precisely who Jesus is, and the very point of The Bible. The Logos (unseen reality - God) connected with the material (humanity). Jesus is fully flesh and fully immaterial. Incarnate God. Science fiction. It’s littered throughout The Bible too: Satan and the Serpent, God and the burning bush, the bread/wine and body/blood. Science. Fiction. Something tangible with something intangible. Nevertheless, Harlan, here, seems to think all of his values weren’t a clear inheritance of the Christian vision for the world. Maybe what seems like common knowledge now wasn’t so common back then. At least he sniffs at the fact that his values seem Christian, but then he trails of in epic Pharisaical fashion. Who needs to stop and reflect when you already have all the answers?

Big Ellison fan, but his take on the football player is pretty off-base to the point that it's surprising how off-base. The football player isn't thanking God for moving a joystick to make him run, hes thanking God for blessing him with the talent and skill to run the kick back.

Ahh, you assume that God thinks like us mortals. God does not. God thinks like God. To say we can fathom to understand everything God does, is quite arrogant, because that means you are on the same level as God. Of course, there are things that don't make sense. We don't live long enough to understand. God does not make logical sense, but that is the point. In this world, everyone has both good and bad in them, but that itself isn't a bad thing.

This is a very pathetic view on God, let me explain why. 𝔽𝕀ℝ𝕊𝕋 𝔻𝔼𝔹𝕌ℕ𝕂: When Harlan said that God bashed on one team because the other team had a Christian player, he made a very stupid statement. - Firstly I'm gonna explain this in a way that won't bring up any religious texts or anything religious. Religious athletes or athletes that believe in God succeed more in sports because there is motivation pushing them to reach out to that success, dosen't matter what God they believe in. Athletes that believe in God always have something that's pushing them to outdo and outpreform other people, this IS NOT God "beating the crap" out of another team because He has nothing better to do. NOT ONLY THAT BUT GOD HAS BETTER THINGS TO DO, SUCH AS SUPPOURTING AND HELPING THOSE WHO NEED HIS HELP, GOD RESPECTS THE PEOPLE WHO REFUSE HIS HELP, SO IT ONLY MAKES SENSE THAT AN ATHEIST TEAM IS GOING TO LOSE AGAINTS A TEAM THAT BELIEVES IN A GOD. Matthew 7:7-8: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." (Before you say that my argument is false because I'm relying on a book, please do your research about the historic proof of the Bible and the apostoles of Jesus, aswell as the 500 eye witnesses of Christ's return and HISTORICAL EVIDENCE of Christ's return.) 𝕊𝔼ℂ𝕆ℕ𝔻 𝔻𝔼𝔹𝕌ℕ𝕂: Later in the video I have seen that Harlan said that the universe dosen't really care about you and that everything that hapens to you is out of chance, this is partially wrong due to the fact satan runs the world, God runs heaven. - THIS MEANS THAT: If someone openly rejects God, God respects his opinion and steps back, letting you use the free wil that He has given out. This means that people who live without God tend to get into chaos, because without God, there will always be chaos. Colossians 1:16-17 (KJV): "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him, all things consist." 𝕋ℍ𝕀ℝ𝔻 𝔻𝔼𝔹𝕌ℕ𝕂:When Harlon talked about God answering prayers and how he found that silly, I have this to say about his idiotic perspective: -Conditional Answer to Prayer: Another perspective suggests that God's answers to prayer may be conditioned on the alignment of the individual's will with God's will. In other words, God may respond to prayers that are in accordance with His plan and purpose, without forcefully overriding human free will. Some belief systems acknowledge that understanding the relationship between God's intervention and human free will may be beyond human comprehension. It is considered a mystery, and believers are called to trust in God's wisdom and sovereignty. 𝕊𝕌𝕄𝕄𝔸ℝ𝕐: Who is he to say about how God should and shouldn't be like? Is he God? I don't think so :3 𝔸𝔻𝔻𝕀𝕋𝕀𝕆ℕ𝔸𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕀ℕ𝔾𝕊: Also I expect no better from a writer that wrote about humanity being endlessely tortured to have a good image about God. He's also a horrible writer in my opinion.

Just one solitary example to the contrary, thanking God can be a little more complex. Believing in a higher power is humbling and can be a source of motivation to perfection...aspiration. The secular calls it evolution. The religious calls it becoming closer to God. It very well maybe the faith demonstrated isn't as annoying as the cock crowed and the sun rose, therefore the cock made the sun come up. The faith proclaimed can be that spark of hope when you think you've already given all you have or when you think others and/ or your situation will always keep you down. It's obviously helped so much that it "annoys" Harlan. All those scientists believed there were laws, (which they documented mathematically) because they believed in a great law giver. Believing in God is like anything else, if you're stuck in 101 maybe that's enough to get you to the next level. It's certainly more aspirational.

My favorite part about this, unless I'm just misunderstanding, is that he doesn't blame god, he doesn't ham up the falseness of god like Carlin would, he mostly just blames people, which I think gets right down to the heart of it. Condemn your neighbor when they are evil, confront your institutions when they are evil, criticize yourself when you are evil, but do not blame that which you will never understand. Because you simply never know who is right, and who is wrong. You won't find out until it's too late to do any good. Because the unknown, in all its vastness, is infinitely more powerful than you.
